~Dream~

"Scarlet!"

I ignored the voice calling for me.  My gaze was glued to my feet as I ran through the woods, trying to avoid all the debris and uproots.  I can't stop, I can't think.  I have to keep running.

"Scarlet!  Please!  Stop running"  The voice called out again, sounding more distant than before.

Wait, that voice.  I know that voice.

I slowed my pace and turned around, straining my eyes trying to see where it might've come from.  From behind a tree to my left, a large shadow emerges.

"Scarlet, finally," I quickly recognized Mr.Adams as he approached, "why were you running?  Is everything alright?"

"I-uh," I shift awkwardly on my feet, "I don't know?"

He laughed, it sounded hollow.  My heart was still sprinting, unaware we had stopped running.

"Ya know I was wrong about you, I thought you'd be harder to catch," he lunged forward.  His hands wrapped around my neck, the pressure stopping my breathing instantly.  I tried to break away from his grasp, which only seemed to make him laugh, "oh Scar, I wish this wasn't the end for our story.  But I'm afraid it has to be."

My vision blurred as he started to speak again.

"Scarlet!"

My eyes snap open and I shoot upright, "get away from me!"

"Woah, woah, hey it's just me," I look up and see Elliot standing over me, "you were having a bad dream?"

"Yes, I'm sorry, it was just a dream."  I sigh and lean back down.  First night in my new home and already I'm having nightmares about my math teacher murdering me.  Great.

"Do you want to talk to me about it?"  He sits down on the bed and rubs small circles on my arm as he waits for me to respond.  The electricity distracts me from whatever I was feeling before.

My eyes reach his and a smirk forms on my face, I reach out and pull him towards me.  Our lips collide and everything inside me melts away.  He lifts me and adjusts us on the bed so he's in between my legs.  A gasp escapes my mouth as I feel his boner press against my lower region.

Elliot pulls away laughing slightly, "someones a little frisky this morning," his eyes are dark telling me he enjoys this as much as I do.

"I can't help it, whenever you touch me, I can't explain it," I reach up and caress his face with my hand.

"My horny little mate," and with that he leans back down, this time with more force.

The next couple hours consisted of us fucking, cuddling, fucking again, and so on.  Eventually his phone rang, leaving me alone in our new house.

I wander around, not exactly sure what to do.  I was too restless to go back to sleep, despite the muggy weather outside.  And I wasn't in the mood for any of my normal distractions.  Eventually I made it to the living room. I sigh and flop myself onto the couch, "I'm bored," I announce outloud to myself.

"Maybe I can help."

I scream and flip over, which causes me to go crashing onto the floor.  I hear laughter and look up to see Derek leaning against the door frame to the living room.  "Asshole," I mutter under my breath as I reposition myself back onto the couch.

Derek casually walks over, still laughing, and plops himself next to me.  He stops laughing and a stern look appears on his face, "can I ask you something?"

Cautiously I sat up straighter, "yeah of course."

He stares at me for a long moment before looking away, "you have a mate, I found my mate."

"Those aren't really questions."

"Well," he sighs and looks straight at me, "everything I've ever learned about mates is that you forget everything else, everyone else.  They become your world.  But if that's true then why does this," he reaches over and grabs my hand, "why, why does this feel right?"

My head spins, this isn't happening.  I have a mate, he has a mate.  His mate is my friend, she's an amazing person.  I have Elliot.

"Derek," I gently pull my hand away and stand up, creating some distance between us, "I still don't know much about werewolves or mates or anything about your world...  But I do know Rayne.  And she is wonderful.  Maybe you just need to give it some time?"

"No, I can't," he looked away from me again, "it wouldn't have been fair to her to keep her as a mate when I'm still feeling these feelings for you."

"Derek what did you do?"  I take another step backwards.

"I rejected Rayne as my mate," he said flatly.

"You did what?  What does that mean?"

"You don't know about that?"  His voice becomes angry and his eyes shoot towards me, "he didn't tell you about that?  That you have a choice?  That you can say no?"

Derek stands up and with quick strides he comes over to me.  He gazes down towards my neck and a growl erupts from deep inside him, "He marked you without even giving you all the information?"

His body starts shaking and quickly he backs away from me.  My eyes follow him, too stunned to move or speak.  Derek's head lowers as he seems to try focusing on his breathing.  Without warning his entire body spasms and loud cracking noises fill the room.  I close my eyes and fall down to the floor terrified.

When I open my eyes again, Derek's wolf is in my living room.  He looks wild, rabid, like he could kill at the drop of a hat.  His head snaps towards me and I can feel tears stream down my face.  Just as I was about to raise my hands in self defense, I hear a door slam open and Elliot comes running in the room.  He positions himself between me and Derek.

"Derek, leave."  Elliots voice was dripping with power that even I could feel.

Derek growled, loud enough to be heard from miles away.  Then without even a second going by he darts towards whatever door Elliot had entered from, knocking over many things in his path.

I take a second to catch my breath and slowly rise from the floor.  Elliot, still dripping wet from the rain, turns and looks at me.  His face is soft and sad when he sees the state I'm in.  I can't even process everything that just happened.  The only thing I can think about is what Derek said.

I could've said no?
