I ran for what felt like forever only stopping when I realized I was lost. It was starting to get dark which suggested I was running around randomly for about 2 hours. I wasn't running the whole time. I stopped occasionally to contemplate whether I should go back or not. Then I remember everything my parents said, which only made me cry harder and run farther.
I was now in the middle of the woods lost. I had made so many turns that I didn't know where I had come from. I should have just gone to Pamela's house. She would have probably gotten in trouble too, but her parents thought I was a good kid so they wouldn't have told her she couldn't see me. Then again, if my parents went to drag me back in, her house would be the first place they would check.
I stumbled through the dry leaves and brush trying to walk in one direction, hoping I was headed back to town. If I needed to I would go to Luke's house. He was a close friend and my parents didn't know where he lived so I would be safe there. He would sneak me in if he needed to and let me stay the night.
Luke was my second best friend. He was like a brother to me. I was so happy when my two best friends were soulmates. They fit each other perfectly. I never liked Luke in more than a friend way. It was just weird to think like that. We trusted each other though. It was nice having him there to comfort my like I'm his little sister.
The sun is set now and I have no idea where I am. I'm scared and lost. I shouldn't have run off like I did. What my parents did really hurt me, but it wasn't right to run away from my problems.
I need to find a place to sleep. I can't be in the woods all night. Who knows what is out here.
I walk along a little bit longer before I see what looks to be a building in the distance, tall and black.
Hope builds inside of me. Maybe I have found my way back to town.
As I approach the structure, I realized it was a thick, concrete wall.
It looked like an old government building, somewhat resembling a prison. It was at least 5 stories tall and it had large barbed wire coils on top.
I could see a heavy steel door a few yards away. It looked old and abandoned with large weeds and vines tangled the walls. This place will have to do for the night.
I stumbled over to the door and held a firm grip on the handle. I yanked hard, but the door wouldn't budge.
I tried again, harder this time. Still nothing. I was a lot weaker right now because of my long, mindless journey.
I groaned in defeat, falling to the ground. I leaned my back against the cold metal with my elbows on my knees and my head in my hands.
I was lost. I had no place to stay. I wouldn't see Pam, Luke, Cal or Caroline again. My parents. Did they even miss me?
I came to the conclusion that crying wouldn't get me anywhere. I stood up slowly and began walking along the wall. After a few minutes, I found what looked to me a loose panel.
I carefully slid my fingers underneath, hoping to get it loose enough to slip inside. I only got it to move a tiny bit before it wouldn't budge any more.
I wasn't giving up here. I looked around the dark woods in search of a strong stick I could use to pry it open. After a moment, to my delight I found a stick that looks like it recently fell.
I picked it up and it seemed pretty sturdy.
Placing the tip underneath the flap, I push the stick with much force. I jolt forward and see that there is now a big opening for me to get into this large metal fortress.
I slip inside quickly and face complete darkness.
After stumbling around for a second, I find a switch on the wall. Crossing my fingers, I pray the electricity still works.
To my surprise, dim lights flicker on. They didn't work too well. Only 1/4 of them worked and even those were very dim. It was enough to see though.
There was a long dark hallway with cement walls. There were some rooms that I could make out down the hall.
I suddenly feel a sharp jolt on my right forearm. I look down and remember my timer.

I was so busy with everything going on that I completely forgot about my decreasing time. It was finally here.
How though?
I was in the middle of nowhere. There couldn't possibly be another person here. If they were, the building wouldn't be so dark. It wouldn't look like this place had been left in ruins for a century.
I decided to explore the prison, whatever it was.
My timer getting lower and lower. My heart beat rising at every tick.

I was terrified.
This was nothing like the storybook way I had imagined my soulmate.
I always pictured being at a coffee shop reading my favorite book, a warm tea next to me. I imagined getting up, list in my book, not paying attention to my surrounding when suddenly I bumped into a stranger. The time finally running out. His time running out. Love at first sight. This was my reality. A dark dungeon where nobody would hear my scream.
I wandered along, scared to death. I didn't know what was in here. My feet telling my to go this direction.
I turned a corner into a room, my eyes widen at what I saw.
