"hi."
yn spoke quietly and waved to the volleyball team's few boys who were also waiting for the bus. daishou stared at them, visibly annoyed by their presence. he decided to stop ignoring her after noticing her chatting with the team at lunch. he didn't bother apologizing to her because he didn't need to, to have her all over again. it amused him to see how easy it was to manipulate someone who didn't have anyone else to turn to. and he had to keep it that way.
boys tried to talk with yn again after lunch, but daishou was always around her telling her she shouldn't talk with them and taking her away. it was incredibly annoying.
"oh my god, it's raining!"
her voice was full of joy, and she easily caught the attention of everyone waiting at the bus stop.
"why are you so happy about it?"
daishou's voice was the polar opposite, irritated.
"because the sun is still shining and the temperature is still warm, even if it is raining! we should go for a walk."
"are you dumb?"
they were all expecting that kind of reaction from daishou, who had killed her enthusiasm in three words. it was suna standing up straight into the rain what surprised them.
he had no idea what had happened. ot was terribly sad to see how daishou treated her. a simple walk in the rain would make her very happy. daishou would do it without hesitation if he loved her. to be honest, it wasn't even a matter of love, if he was at least a good friend, he would do it. suna couldn't understand why daishou still wanted to keep her with him if he couldn't even act in front of other people he cared about yn.
it frustrated him so much that one impulse was enough.
"come on, ln, let's go for a walk."
she gasped and stared at him with her lips apart for a moment. before daishou could say anything, she stood up. he didn't even expect her to agree, so he had no reaction to suna's offer.
"let's go."
she smiled as she repeated after him.
"bye, boys, see you tomorrow!"
she yelled at them from distance, giggling as the rain fell on her skin. it was such a pleasurable experience. she looked like the raindrops took her all worries away.
"i want to go too, come on"
"'tsumu, just let suna accompany her."
aran sat atsumu down, ignoring the scoff from the other end of the bench. it was unusual to see suna do something like this, especially for someone he barely knew, but after everyone saw him giving the team the talk about yn being in a toxic relationship and how how they should treat her better, and knowing his background and how sensitive he was about matters like this, it wasn't odd to see what he did for yn. they didn't need atsumu walking alongside them to ruin their personal moment.
because of his intimidating appearance, everyone who didn't know suna assumed he was just some bad boy with a big ego, but on the inside he was very sweet and caring. aran had faith in him that something good would come from their conversation on the way home.
"you look like a child."
suna said with really quiet chuckle after a while of watching yn jump around, skipping cracks in the pavement. she immediately stopped and looked at him with pity.
"sorry."
"keep going. don't worry, i didn't mean it to be offensive."
'damn, daishou really did a number on her,' he thought. it was odd to see how easily comments like this could make her sad and sorry. her lovely boyfriend must have told her a lot of them.
he would never have guessed a year ago that the girl he saw on stage could be like this. she was just so cool. now she looked like she lost her colour. it wasn't a metaphor, because she actually lost her colors. her hair had been dyed dark, having previously been light brown with highlights, and her cool make-up had been toned down, as had her accessories.
"suna-san, do you even live in this direction?"
yn questioned, slowing down to walk calmly beside her new friend. she was so excited to go on this walk that she completely forgot about this 'minor detail'.
"yeah, i live in this area with my aunt and uncle. actually, this is my house."
he pointed to one of the houses in the neighbourhoor, which was identical to the one next to it except for the number on the fence in front.
"oh, i live a little further away. don't worry, you don't have to walk me there!"
suna was kind enough to walk her anyway, it was literally raining and he didn't have to do it, so she wanted to appreciate the peaceful walk and not push her luck any further.
"the rain is nice."
he said simply, walking past his house without looking back at it.
"are you coming?"
he turned around to face the girl, who had stopped walking. while waiting for yn's response he walked backward, ruffling his soaking-wet hair and not bothering to stop. he knew the answer already from her smile.
"yes!"
