because the weather was so nice, yn and her friends decided to spend their lunch break outside, taking advantage of all the sun mother nature had to offer. she had already finished her meal and was listening to semi as he explained to them the rules the teachers had given him regarding their performance at the festival. of course, the main attraction of the evening would be a bigger star, but they would have plenty of time to perform before them and showcase their talents, just as support would on a real concert.
yn needed to stand for a few moments to stretch her muscles. she liked wearing skirts and dresses, but sitting in them meant constantly checking to see if they didn't roll up, exposing her underwear to the public, and her body hated sitting still for more than a few minutes.
"should we play something calm and fun, like true support, or should we just make ourselves the stars of the evening?"
"kanji, i like the way you think."
yn patted him on the back, and he gave her a big smile. after a few days with koganegawa, she decided she needed to adopt him, and because the two of them were so easygoing, they quickly became close.
she almost didn't feel the pat on her own back.
"tag."
yn thrown a quick glance in the direction of atsumu, who was moving away from her. she didn't need to hear it again before running in his direction, past osamu and aran. she would normally say hello to them, but she didn't have time because she needed to catch up with atsumu. she expected him to be fast because he was an athlete, but he should have some empathy for yn and her ability to run in a skirt.
there was no way she could win this fairly.
she slowly stopped and rested her hands on her knees, acting like she was trying to catch a breath. she decided it wasn't dramatic enough and placed one hand on her chest.
"yn, are you okay?"
hearing his panicked voice almost made her feel bad. atsumu leaned in to see her face because she wasn't responding to him. he expected to see her face turn green, but all he got was a big smile.
"tag!"
she laughed loudly and tried to run away from him. she only had two seconds of lead time, so she had to make the most of it.
unfortunately, she didn't notice daishou standing right behind her.
"ouch."
atsumu assisted her in getting up from the ground she had landed on while giving daishou a cold stare.
koganegawa sighed loudly, he too wanted to run around with them, but when they saw daishou, the energy in the entire group just shifted, and he didn't expect them to be able to return to this carefree, playfull atmosphere.
"what are you doing, yn? are you a child?"
"i'm just having fun."
she mumbled as she patted down her skirt and fixed her high socks.
"you can have fun like an adult and without looking stupid. you are embarrassing me."
yn took a look around. there weren't many people outside, but they were all staring at them now, and she was embarrassed.
"are you looking for a bruise?"
atsumu stepped in quickly after noticing that she was having difficulty talking back to daishou this time. suna told them the other day that they should avoid telling yn that she looks childish or like a child, and once again, he was correct, now atsumu could see with his own eyes how hurtful words like this were for yn.
"she's my girlfriend not yours, so back off."
"you're treating her like shit, so leave this fucking dumb argument about being her boyfriend finally."
"i'm treating her like the adult she is, not like a puppet. do you not see yn? they're treating you like a funny mascot, telling you what to do. let's go, you can do better than this."
nobody responded right away because they were taken aback by daishou's words. what kind of imagination did he need to make up things like that in a matter of seconds?
"you piece of shit, stop trying manipulate her! why are you even doing this?"
atsumu was on the verge of throwing punches, so osamu approached him to intervene if necessary. when semi and konoha were ready to stand up for their friend, he told them that his brother could handle it, but it was clear that his nerves were on edge now. in his school acts, punching the student council president would look terrible.
"i'm just trying to help her be better."
"no, you aren't."
osamu joined their conversation, gently pushing atsumu away.
"please stop."
it was the first time they heard yn. she was just standing there, watching as they fought over her. she regularly saw daishou arguing with people, and no matter how wrong he was, he always managed to make himself look good. she didn't want to cause problems for anyone because of their argument with him. she really had enough. it was a never-ending circle. she'd feel bad because of daishou, someone would make her feel better, daishou would make her feel bad again, turning her against her friends, and so on. she just needed to get somewhere else at this moment.
"i'm going home."
she said, clearly upset, and walked up to her friends to pick up her bag, and then she walked out of school property, not looking back at her friends' worried faces.
