Fei bought a plot of land from the Government.

It used to be a monastery. The monks died in a raid many years ago. Now it's empty.

It has a vast courtyard and many bedrooms. The place looks a bit ruined and deserted.

Some beggars left after the place got occupied. There are many abandoned places in the city. It's easy to find another place to crash for the night.

Fei orders two slave aunties to take care of the children.

As expected, the sick child died yesterday. He was buried at the backyard.

Fei arranges Yi Dao as their teacher.

The old beggar protests hard at the beginning.

Fei warns, "You need to work to earn your meal. I don't want to see them grow up as bandits. Teach them well."

Yi Dao might look like a helpless old disabled man.

He used to be Captain of Shadow Guards. He worked for the late Emperor until he got assassinated many years ago.

The guy lost a leg back then. From his left knee below. All his comrades died that day.

Fei saved him when he tried to commit suicide.

"Uncle, why do you wanna die?"

"I lost my reason to live. I lost my liege."

"Why not find another reason? If you failed to reach a dream. Make a new one."

Little Fei was still a naive boy. Somehow his speech changed Yi Dao's heart.

Fei left the kids under his care. He knows Yi Dao is still struggling with his past. He always regretted unable to protect his liege.

Yi Dao protests, "What are you doing with them?"

"Train them to grow up as good guys. Teach them self defense. Like you did for me."

"You are too lazy to learn anything."

Fei chuckles.

That's true. He loves learning new things. And he would move on to his next object once he got it.

Yi Dao always regretted he couldn't force Fei to learn martial arts longer from him.

The Aunties have cleaned up the kids.

Fei chuckles when nine boys and girls are staring him with frightened eyes.

He warns, "First of all, I don't raise slackers. You wanna eat, you work hard. Each one of you must help the Aunties in cleaning and other house chores."

The kids nod their heads. They came from poor households. They got used to house chores since early days.

"Second, I don't raise useless folks. This old man here shall teach you basic martial arts. Anyone who is talented fighter shall become my future bodyguard."

Yi Dao gasps. He is worried for Fei because he has a very powerful enemy. Unfortunately he never likes to have bodyguards around him.

The old man is simply too weak to protect anyone. Not with his bad leg.

The kids nod their heads.

Fei adds,"Third, I shall arrange a teacher for you. Learn to write, read and do maths. Smart folks shall be my future shopkeepers."

The kids begin to smile.

Shopkeepers usually have a lot of money. It's kinda their dream jobs here in border city.
