Jennie likes me, how can it be? I saw the hurt in her eyes when I told her she couldn't. I did not dare tell her that I like her too.
I want to fall in love and I want to be loved. And I don't think Jennie is in love with me. So it's better for us to just be friends.
Jade texted me that she and her friends will be coming over to Seoul for an event and I told her I'm available before that to hang out.
<Incoming Call: Jade>
Me: Hello Jade?
Jade: Hey Lisa, I wanna ask you, would you like to be my date for the event?
Me: What? Your date?
Jade: Yeah. Sigh.. Lisa, I'd prefer to tell you this in person but I have to settle for a phone call. I like you and I would like to ask if you would be my date for the evening.
Me: Erm.. I.. Err.. Yeah I'll go with you..
Jade: I'm so happy to hear that! I'll see you in a couple of days then. Goodnight love.
Me: Goodnight.

Sigh. I wish that was Jennie. Now, I have to find something to wear to be Jade's date.

Jade arrived last night. Today I brought her out for brunch and tea before we went back to prepare for the event. It's the launch of a new cosmetic line and she has been invited to go. I heard that there are a lot of artistes who will be there too.

By the time I entered the venue, Jade is already there with her friends Jamie and Anne Marie.
"You look lovely tonight," Jade compliments, pulling me into her for a hug.
I smile shyly at her, "Thank you."
"Oops, I'm so sorry," I hear a familiar voice as I got a small knock from behind.
I turn around and I see it's Jennie.
"Jennie.."
"Lisa?" Her voice came out like a whisper.
"Errr.. Yeah.. Hi.." I say.
"Hi.. Erm.. This is my best friend, Jisoo. Jisoo, this is Lisa," She introduces us.
"Hi Jisoo," I step aside to reveal Jade. "Jade, this is Jennie. And this is her friend, Jisoo."
"Hello there," Jade extends her hand and shakes both of theirs.
I see Jennie's expression change. She looks sad.
"Love, shall we get a drink?" Jade puts her arm around my waist as she ask.
"Yeah sure," I reply. "Have a good evening, Jennie, Jisoo."
We exchange smiles and walk the opposite direction. Even though I'm with Jade, I can't stop thinking about Jennie.
"You okay?" Jade ask with concern.
"Huh what? Yeah, I'm fine don't worry. I'm just not used to being in such events," I say.
Jade holds my hand and pulls me towards a corner, "I'm sorry, do you want us to get out of here then?"
"No, it's okay Jade. You have to be here, and I'll accompany you," I smile.
The event went on smoothly and Jade never left me on my own. Even when people came to speak with her, she always ensured I was comfortable and she would introduce me to whoever who spoke to her.
Sometimes, from the corner of my eye I would catch Jennie looking at me. I had to force myself to focus on Jade. The event has ended and people could leave whenever they wanted.
Jade and I are sitting at a booth and we decided to leave after our last drink.
"Lisa, thank you for coming with me tonight," Jade says.
I put down the glass I had in my hand, "It's no problem. Thank you for inviting me."
Jade is leaning in. I know she's going to kiss me. From the corner of my vision, I can see Jennie and Jisoo looking our direction but Jennie turns away.
"Ah choo!" I pretend to sneeze to avoid the kiss. "Excuse me.."
"Are you cold? C'mon, let's get out of here," Jade stands up and extends her hand for me. I take it and we walk out of the place.
"Jade, can we talk? Somewhere private?" I ask her.
"Of course, let's go back to my hotel room?" She ask and I nod my head. I follow her to where her driver is waiting and she lets me slide in first.
The car ride to her hotel was quiet. I am trying to put my thoughts together. I know the journey is going to be short so I don't have a lot of time to make any decisions.
"Come on in," Jade gestures for me to enter her room.
I step inside, "Thank you, Jade."
She pours us a glass of wine and sat down opposite me. "You pretended to sneeze earlier didn't you? To avoid my kiss.." She speaks up.
I look up, surprised that she knew, "I.. Yes.. I'm sorry.."
"You don't have to apologize Lisa. Can I ask you something?" She says.
"Yeah."
"Jennie. You're in love with her aren't you?" She ask and my head shoots up.
"I... I don't know.. I do like her.. But it's different here. Being in a same sex relationship isn't quite acceptable here. A few days ago, she actually told me that she likes me. I told her she couldn't." I have no idea why I'm sharing all these with Jade but she made it so easy to talk to her.
"I don't want to put my heart out just to get hurt because she's not ready to go through all that. I don't want to settle for 'like', I want it to be for love. Does that make sense?"
Jade takes one of my hand, "Lisa, that's not fair to Jennie. You're shutting her out because you think she'd hurt you."
"I don't understand?"
"Perhaps if you let her, she will fall in love with you," Jade explains. "What about you? Are you in love with her? Or will you eventually be the one hurting her?"
I thought for while, "I'm afraid to fall in love with her. But I think it will be really easy to love her if I let myself."
"Lisa, follow your heart. Otherwise, one day you'll look back and regret not doing that and you'll just hate yourself." She looks directly into my eyes with so much conviction.
"Thank you. Thank you for not getting upset with me for rejecting you," I apologize.
"Don't be silly, we're cool okay?" Jade laughs. "And I appreciate you being honest with me."
I spent the night over at Jade's room because after our talk, it was too late and there isn't any cab on the streets. We ended up chatting the whole night.
Jade returned to London after having breakfast together and I headed home. I decided to tell Jennie how I feel.
