His Little Secret

Chapter 9

Me and Zara arrived at the park but I still could not get my mind off of Sonic.
"So Shadow what do you wanna do?" Zara asked. Are we going to have a picnic or do you just wanna hang out?" She added on." Well I guess you can decide." I said not really paying attention to her. Although I wasn't directly looking at her I could still see her ears droop a little."Shadow can we talk about something..?" She asked. I just nodded signaling for her to go on." Do you have a crush on Sonic?" She asked bluntly.

I was startled by the question she was asking. I couldn't find the right words so I just blurted out the first thing in my mind."yes." I said not realizing at first. I then processed it and then put my hands over my mouth in shock I had said that." Wait! I mean no I mean well kind of. Wait no I love you and definitely not him!" I said struggling to find the right words. She then placed a hand on mine and sighed." Shadow...I-its ok. To be honest I have noticed before how you were madly in love with Sonic, but I did always feel jealous about that because I had liked you then, but now I see that you really like Sonic and..not..me." She said looking a little upset at the end. I was taken aback by her knowledge of my situation.

"Alright well since you know that I do in fact love Sonic than I guess I can tell you the truth." I said. "Yes please I really want to know." She begged. "Well he had gotten suspicious of me but I had told him that I liked you so he tried to get me closer to you. That's why I sat next to you that day. And then the party happened and the confession and then us dating. And I'm sorry to say but all of this was never really true except on your end." I explained feeling a little bad. I looked up from the ground to her and saw tears in her eyes yet they were not falling down. She didn't look angry but she also didn't look too happy either.

"O-ok I u-unders-stand." She stuttered." Is this it then? Are we done?" I asked." I guess so. Goodbye Shadow. I'll see you tomorrow at school." She said trying to keep herself together but crying as she turned away.

I sat there in silence until I felt a presence next to me. It was Rouge. "Hey hun I saw what happened, you doin ok?" She asked. "Yeah just thinking about something." I mumbled." Is it Sonic?" "Yeah." I replied.

"Shadow I know you haven't talked to him so you have to do it soon. I don't wish to put pressure on you for this but if if means you being happy in the end than I will gladly do it. Now I want you to go and talk to him." She demanded. I just sat there looking at her a little startled by her tone. "Shadow that wasn't a question now go before it's too late!" She demanded once more and stood up grabbing my hands to pull me off of the bench I was sitting on.

"Ok ok I'm going!" I growled getting a little annoyed by her actions."Good now go!" She said nodding her head in the direction she wanted me to go. I rolled my eyes and walked until I found the blue hedgehog.

"Sonic!" I yelled trying to get his attention. However he didn't hear me. I rolled my eyes and yelled again. This time he did hear me." Sonic I have some news. It's about me and Zara we br-" I said before getting cut off by him." Oh yeah it's always about her. I'm going to be honest because I don't feel like keeping this a secret anymore but.. I love you Shadow!" He yelled almost breaking down. I was taken aback and stood there stunned." You what..?" I asked wanting confirmation on if what I was hearing was true. "Geez Shadow I said I love you! But your dating Zara and I'm dating Amy so it wouldn't be fair to them. I'm sorry. If I wasn't so stubborn none of this would've have happened. I'm sorry to have yelled like that but it had to be done. I'll see you tomorrow." He said calming down and walking away. I stood there feeling tears well up in my eyes. He loves me but doesn't want us to be together. He wants to continue being with Amy after I had broken up with Zara over him. I had so many mixed emotions right now.

I didnt feel like going to Rouges house so I just went to my own and went straight to my room and lied on my bed staring at the ceiling. Tears still in my eyes but not coming out. I eventually fell asleep while overthinking about everything.
