After.....

After over easily 2 hours at the hospital, Mum and I finally left. A new pair of crutches were given to me and I hopped in the car. I thought about all the events that just happened. Falling, fainting, my friends worried, Hazel, even Mum. The amount of stress I would have put her in. I felt like I was going to cry, but I held it in. We didn't go home, there was still 1 more hour of school left at Mum's school.

It was lunch time. The kids were playing, laughs, screams and just fun came from every angle. I smiled a happy smile, but a sad smile too. I was happy because the kids were having a great time, but sad because I wanted to walk around and play, laugh with my friends, but it never happened. The teachers were in the staff room, yelling out to Mum "Hey, where did you go?" and to me "Aw, sweetie what happened to you?" Mum showed me where the toilets where and stood outside the cubicle. A tear formed in my eye. I quickly wiped it away. I didn't want anyone to hear me.

After the toilet break, we headed for Mum's classroom. It was small, with a very low roof. Artwork that the students had done were hung up around the room. It looked great! I sat down in the library nook that they had. Mum bring over a chair to elevate my leg. It was getting painful more and more now, but I decide not to tell Mum, for obvious reasons. Music was playing. It was an indication for the students to line up in front of their classroom and wait for the teacher, though the final bell never went. Mum explained that they didn't have bells, just music. I would have found it confusing. The kids came in, as loud as anything. As they put their lunch boxes back in their red bags, they walked straight over to me. "Who are you?" "Why are you here?" " What happened to your leg?" were only some of the questions I was asked. I didn't answer and just shrugged. They weren't happy with me. Mum introduced me to the grade. "Now, everyone. Listen up. You may have seen a new person in our classroom today and have probably asked her a few questions, but for those who do not know this is my daughter Victoria. Say 'Good afternoon Victoria'". They all replied. I waved and said 'hi' back, but nothing more.

The last hour felt like it took forever. The noise level was 'CODE RED' as we would call it in prep. They did not stop talking and yelling. It was horrible. I looked over at Mum a lot of times during the hour. Her eyes grew wide and she would shake her head every time. This made me laugh. It reached 3:15pm and the kids had grabbed their bags and were sitting on the floor in a circular shape. It was a boy 'Hughie's' birthday. I have no idea what age he had turned. He gave out cupcakes then it was time for them to leave. "Well, that was hectic!" I said to Mum. "Yuhuh, that's what I have to put up with every Monday and Thursday." I laughed.

After a every quick meeting with some of the teachers, it was time to head home, which I was quite thankful about. We first had to pick up my sister from daycare. It was a short drive, bug I didn't get out. As Mum went to open the door the the centre, I wondered how my sister would react. Would she be ok with all this? What will happen when I have to explain to her what happened? Will she look after me like she usually does?
