"How did I get home?" Freen asked me as soon as she woke up.

"I called my mom after you fainted."

Freen tilted her head, trying to recall why she passed out. It seemed like she couldn't remember what happened yesterday.

"What happened?"

I adjusted my scarf before sitting on the bed with her.

Yesterday, while we were kissing, someone knocked on the car door. Since the windows were tinted, he couldn't see what we were doing inside.

Well, Freen was sitting on my lap, kissing my neck and leaving a mark. I wanted to stop her, but she was getting more excited whenever I tried to push her back.

"Freen, someone's here."

She stopped kissing me and looked at the person outside. She squinted to see who it was, but then shook her head and buried her face in my neck.

"Who is he?" I asked.

"Just some random guy who gave me boba tea earlier. After that, I started feeling dizzy. He's a bad guy, Becky!" She cried.

"Hey, I want to know what happened," I said, taken aback by her sudden rise in voice. "And why are you wearing a scarf?" She pulled the scarf from my neck, revealing my hickeys.

Freen covered her mouth with her hands when she saw them.

"Who the heck did this to you, Becky?" Freen traced the hickeys on my neck, but I swatted her hand away.

"Someone drugged you yesterday. I already reported it to your manager, so don't worry. She asked me to look after you for a month while they investigate this case." I avoided her question by explaining what happened yesterday.

"Someone drugged me, and yet here you are with hickeys all over your neck. What did you do yesterday?" She sounded angry, but I just stared blankly at her.

"Get some rest."

I was about to leave her room when she suddenly grabbed my arms and pinned me against the wall. She was taller than me, so I had to look up to meet her eyes.

"Where do you get the audacity to turn your back on me?" She asked again, gritting her teeth in annoyance. "You were supposed to take care of me yesterday. Where did you go?"

I pushed her away and glared at her. She was weak today, so I could easily overpower her if I wanted to.

"Do you want to know who did this?" I asked. "It was you, in your car. After your mall tour yesterday. Don't you remember?"

Freen stepped back.

"Did I say something stupid?" she asked again.

"No, don't worry. It's just the side effects of ecstasy. I understand."

Freen sighed with relief. She returned to her bed, sat down, and covered her feet with a blanket. Then she turned to me with the same blank expression as yesterday.

"I'm sorry. You... You should've left me, you know?" She scratched her nape and avoided eye contact. "Like you always do."

"Are you upset because I left you years ago? Is that it, Freen?" My voice grew louder.

She looked at me, eyebrows furrowed, and glared at me.

"You think I'm a shallow person? I got mad because you had to take care of your dad?" Her voice rose too, and this time she was furious. Her face turned red, and she was catching her breath. "I waited for you, and the moment I saw you at the airport, I ran towards you and didn't care about the people around us. I even asked Love to prepare milk tea and strawberries that day, and what did you do? You went home and told me you didn't want to see me anymore! How do you expect me to feel, Becky? Happy?"

The truth hit me hard, and I wanted to kneel and beg, but my pride wouldn't allow it.

I hurt Freen. I must apologize, but that apology wouldn't be enough to ease the pain she's feeling right now. I wanted to hug her and tell her I won't leave, but that would be a lie. Sooner or later, I would leave Freen again, and I would never come back.

Should I let her be mad at me? So that when the time comes, she won't feel the pain anymore.

But what about me?

"How much do you miss me, Freen?" I knew this question came out of the blue, but I needed to know how much she wanted me by her side so I could decide.

"To the point where I don't want to wake up without you beside me."

One sentence that meant a lot to me. My heart fluttered, and my lips formed a smile.

"Then get some rest; I'll prepare your lunch." I patted her head, and she nodded.

She looked like a baby, smiling and doing everything I asked her to do. It seemed like she wasn't mad just a few minutes ago.

From today onwards, Freen, I won't let you get hurt. Not by me, not by anyone else. I'll protect you from everything. I'll make you happy until my last breath.
