The sun's gentle rays peeked through my bedroom window, coaxing me awake. I opened my right eye and found Becky gazing at me with a wide smile.

"Good morning," I greeted her, but she seemed too excited to respond. "What's up with you?" I chuckled and pulled her into a warm hug.

"Nothing; I can't believe you're mine, babe." Becky looked at me, planting a kiss on the tip of my nose. "I've often wondered what I did to deserve someone as loving and caring as you."

Her words melted my heart. Becky has a way of filling my stomach with butterflies.

"Let's go somewhere and create unforgettable memories together."

"Are you suggesting we elope?" I teased, and she rolled her eyes.

"It's one of the things on my bucket list, remember? I want to capture a photo of us in a super special place." She giggled.

"I'm suspicious when you giggle like that." I furrowed my brow, and she playfully laughed.

Although Becky's laughter echoed, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Her smile today had a hint of guilt, worry, and regret. I've known her for years, and I'm sure something's bothering her.

But I don't want to spoil the moment. I'll talk to her mother about it later.

"Let's go to that special place then." I gently kissed her forehead, and she nodded.

Becky and I headed to a public park. I wasn't sure why it held significance for her, but I let her take the lead. We indulged in ice cream, played on the playground with other kids, and rated the couples we saw.

Even as evening approached, Becky showed no signs of fatigue. We ventured back and forth, sampling different street foods. I wasn't sure if she was allowed to do all this, but I didn't intervene.

A dreadful feeling gnawed at me, an undeniable truth I found hard to accept.

"Becky," I called out while munching on a corn dog.

She looked at me, raising her eyebrows as she continued chewing.

"Where would you like to go next?" I inquired.

After swallowing her food, she leaned in close and whispered in my ear, "Let's go to your room." She giggled again.

I smiled at her, but deep down, I felt a sense of sorrow. If this were our last night together, I wanted it to be memorable. I would do anything she asked of me.

Though it was difficult to acknowledge, I had to face the reality. If I could give her my organs, I would, but this situation was different. She didn't need a donor; she needed someone to take care of her.

"Are you sure you want to go home? I think there's still one more thing on your list."

Becky flashed a sad smile and shook her head.

"I crossed it out. We can't do it overnight."

Her response furrowed my brow.

"Then maybe we can do it tomorrow?" I suggested.

Becky turned to me, offering another smile.

"My time is running out, Freen. If I stay out any longer, I won't have another day. I have to stay in the hospital and wait for my death." Her eyes welled up with tears that refused to fall.

"Perhaps once you're discharged. Tell me, Becky, what is it? I'll do anything for you," I assured her.

She shook her head, and that's when our tears finally spilled. I knew this day would come, but it arrived too soon. Our time together was far too short, and I couldn't fathom the thought of her leaving me so suddenly again.

"Let's go home, Freen."

Throughout the ride to Becky's house, she remained quiet. The weight of the moment hung heavy, making it difficult for either of us to find the right words.

"I'll go to my room. Are you sure you want to go home?" Becky asked, and I nodded.

She needed rest.

As Becky ascended the stairs to her room, I turned to her mother. Her eyes were already teary, but she managed to muster a smile.

"The doctor said it was too late. So I want to thank you for making her remaining life meaningful."

"Isn't there any other way, Khun? I can find the best doctors outside the country. I'll ask my father or mother. We can help her recover," I suggested, but she shook her head.

"When Becca found out about her illness, she had already made up her mind. She wanted to live her life to the fullest rather than being confined to a hospital bed. We pleaded with her to reconsider, but she didn't." She wiped away her tears before turning to me once again. "In fact, she changed her mind too late when she realized she wanted to spend forever with you. That's why she returned to England. However, the doctors there said they couldn't do anything, and to make matters worse, she only has a month to live." Her tears flowed freely now, and I embraced her, offering comfort.

Though tears welled in my own eyes, I needed to stay strong for Becky's parents. Their pain was deeper than mine.

"Please, Freen. I know it's a lot to ask, but can you stay by Becca's side until she departs from this life?" she pleaded.

"Even if you didn't ask, I would do it anyway, Khun. Don't worry. I won't leave her side."
