He woke up laying in the same position he had blacked out in, his whole body ached and burned, but worse than the physical pain was seeing the body infront of him. She wouldn't have died if he had been able to get her to run. But there was no use dwelling on that and the deepening pit of despair now welling inside him. He stood up and staggered into a wall, the pain was incomprehensible, it dragged him down and he knew he needed help, he didn't know how long it had been though. He looked at the clock on his badly smashed phone. 6am. The party would be long over now. It seemed like a distant memory.

He managed to enter his password and get into his messages and send one message to the pack group chat, the message was his location and that was it before he slid to the floor grimacing in pain.

The others must have gotten his message though as just less than an hour later he was being carefully shaken awake by Melissa, he must have nodded off waiting, "Connor, are you okay? what the hell happened?" Melissa was asking him questions, but there was a strange ringing in his ears and he found he couldn't move or talk, he was slipping in and out of consciousness, unable to keep his grasp on reality.

He found himself laying in bed, his bed, he was on his back and his wounds still ached and burned and sent sharp pain through him even in stillness. He became aware that he was covered in bandages, he was wearing simple pyjamas and as he opened his eyes the door opened and Melissa entered, she saw he was awake and walked over to his bedside and sat down. She spoke to him, "You okay?" She looked concerned.

"I suppose," He sat up trying to ignore to the pain in his side. He leaned against his headboard, Melissa looked like she wanted to help but didn't know how, "How is everyone?" He asked knowing the answer wasnt going to be good, "Well, we had to make up a pretty good excuse for all those injures that they had so, car accident. They were speeding in Sam's brothers car and it crashed. Sam's brother even sacrificed his car to authenticate it. You missed the funeral, you've been out for a week." Melissa sounded sober as she gave him the news.

"And Kit?" He said as he remembered something, "Kit, he wasnt dead when i found him, he was injured but he wasnt dead." He said this before he started crying at the look on Melissa's face. Kit must have died in the 'car crash' as well. He didn't want to believe it, but the wave of depression was covering him now. He didn't know what he would do. His best friend, and the one true love of his life were gone. Neither could comfort him anymore. Neither would make fun of him when necessary, neither would laugh at stupid jokes or be exasperated anymore. Gone. "We didn't actually find Kit. Just his phone, all smashed up in a bin about 5 miles from where the rest of you were. We couldn't find you until you sent us your location because you had it turned off. And Heidi left her phone here. 3 people went missing though. All in one night. Of course Kit but Hayden and Nex as well, there room was just left, all their stuff gone." She stopped and looked down at the floor. At the mention of the traitors, he bristled with fury. Melissa looked at him in surprise, "Whoa, you okay? be careful or you'll break the stiches Katrina gave you the other day, lucky she can do that," Melissa looked worried.

"Hayden and Nex." He drew in a breath, "They are 2 members of the demonic ones." He looked bitterly out the window, trying to quench the sudden anger that had flared in him. Melissa looked shocked and got up mumbling that she should tell the others. He felt bad then, He had just dumped it on her. She most likely wasnt ready or prepared for that sort of knowledge.

Two weeks had passed since that night in the alley, he had started to go to his classes again. But he was still feeling pangs every time he saw the 'have you seen this boy?' posters littered around adorned with a picture of Kit staring out at him. He knew Kit was dead. No way could he have survived those injures. But still. Where did he go? Where was he now? Why hadn't his body been found? Questions spiralled his mind on the daily.

But none of that was of matter, he had gone back to life before Kit or Mike had entered his life, but now. It felt wrong.
