One day. That's all it takes for someone's life to be completely ruined. That's all it takes for everything and everyone to turn against you. Unfortunately for my brother, today was one of those days...

I was in the garden with my brothers, telling them about the ordeal I had been through the day before, which they were very interested in.

Little did we know what was about to happen...

"and well I...kind of went into the forest to search for her..." She admittedly sheepishly as she looked down and rubbed her arm nervously.

"YOU DID WHAT?!" The other two exclaimed horrified.

"You promised us you would never go in there!" Darwin exclaimed.

"I know, I know, but I couldn't just leave her in there! She's my best friend, I had to rescue her!" Anais countered.

"Yes, and it was a very brave thing of you to do, but it was still incredibly reckless! You could've gotten lost, or hurt, o-or worse!" Darwin worried.

She teared up slightly. "I know that, but it was worth the risk! Besides, Penny and Carrie were with me the whole time, as well as all the other girls. They all looked after me. and before you say anything else, we both know you'd have done the same if it were you in that situation!"

"I'm glad they were, and yes, maybe we would have, but..." Gumball sighed "Please, just...never go in there again. And if you really have to just...don't do it on your own, okay? I really don't want you getting hurt." He placed his paw on her shoulder, giving her a look of genuine worry and concern.

"I-I-I won't, I promise." She replied sincerely, letting out a small sniff as she did.

"You mean it this time?" Darwin gave her a stern look.

"I do, I swear!" She sniffed, a few tears trickling down her face.

The two hesitated before Gumball smiled and held out his arms. "Oh, come here you!"

She gratefully accepted and allowed him to wrap his arms around her as she rested against his chest and did the same.

She sniffed, the warm tears continuing to trickle down her face as she looked up with wide, guilty eyes. "S-So...so you aren't mad at me for breaking my promise?"

He sighed as he smiled at her reassuringly. "No, no, of course I'm not. I'm just relieved that you're okay. I don't know what I would've done if something had happened to you."

She began to smile weakly as Darwin nodded in agreement. "Besides, even if it was dangerous, ultimately it was the right thing to do, and we understand why you did it. We're really proud of you for being so brave for Jamie. She's really lucky to have a friend who cares about her so much. And she's even luckier that friend happens to be you." He smiled.

Her smile grew into a large, prideful grin as she wiped her nose. "T-Thank you..." She replied modestly as she rubbed her arm.

Gumball's smile also grew as he chuckled lightly. "Awww, there's the adorable little smile I love to see!" He rubbed the top of her head affectionately, making her giggle.

Darwin joined their hug and the three embraced lovingly, Gumball and Darwin just feeling relieved that she'd made it out of the forest unharmed.

They released her and she began to smile excitedly. "So, back to the story. ! haven't even gotten to the fun bit yet! Just wait til you hear what happened in the forest! First, we came across a split pathway and-"
