Chapter 8: Full Moon

"Hello Ashley." Deucalion said with a smirk. The queen has been captured. It was then that the truth finally sunk in. It was then that Ashley knew she was going to be taken.

It had been years since Kate used and betrayed him. In all that time he had never told Laura and Ashley about what really happened with the fire. The guilt consumed him and he felt he could never make up for the Hale tragedy. The guilt paired with anger caused him to embark on a downward spiral. For a time, he shut everyone out.

Perhaps that's the reason he was the way he was around women. He felt like he didn't deserve to be happy. He also could never fully commit or trust someone after Paige and Kate. He regretted what happened with both girls. With Paige, that he gave into a moment of weakness and cause the death of the girl he loved. With Kate, because he failed to realize who she really was. He no longer trusted himself to make the right decision with women and so he gave up altogether. He went through women like clothes, wearing and discarding them after.

The only thing constant in his life were Laura and Ashley. Laura, well, that's because she was family. But if there was one thing he could truly count on, it was Ashley.

And now she was gone and it was up to Derek to find her and bring her home.

Just as how he could always count on Ashley, this time, he was going to be the one Ashley count on.

Something had gone terribly wrong.

Even though he was in a comatose state, Peter Hale could still sense what was going on in his surroundings.

It has been a year since Ashley last visited Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital. She had hidden it from Laura and Derek but after settling down in New York, Ashley had actually been secretly visiting Peter over the years. Her visits came with some gift basket and news about what had been happening in their lives.

In the past year though, Ashley had not visited once and Peter was worried something had happened to the girl. Unfortunately, he was right. Ashley had been taken by Deucalion's pack and forcefully made into their emissary. Although, he didn't know any of this, Peter knew he had to do something.

He willed his body to move and screamed internally in frustration when nothing happened.

Then suddenly, he felt his heart jolt. He looked up at the full moon outside his window and felt an electric charge sweep through his body. Whatever was happening seemed to be triggered by his desire to rescue Ashley. His thoughts and willpower fueling the changes that were happening to his body. Peter could sense his body's healing process awakening his comatose body. Inwardly, Peter laughed manically as he felt a rush of new life in him.

He was back. And the first thought on his mind was Ashley.

They thought they were keeping it a secret but Laura knew everything. Derek was hiding the truth about Kate and Ashley was hiding the fact that she visits Peter. As the Alpha and their older sister, she knew her siblings better than themselves.

She couldn't really blame them though. Afterall, she had kept them in the dark when she heard news that Deucalion was searching for Ashley. Maybe if she had not kept it secret, the girl might still be with them. But then again, making tough decisions was part of being a leader.

So here she was again, keeping it a secret from Derek that she was back in Beacon Hills. In her defense though, she was checking up on a lead. She had heard there was an Alpha in town and thought it might be Deucalion coming back with Ashley. She owed it to the girl to save her.

Unknown to Laura though was that she was lured back in town. And it was only in her final moments that she realized it had all been a trap. Even as her consciousness slipped from her, she kept thinking about her two siblings and what would happen to them now.
