Another day had dawned upon Ashvale Kingdom. As the sun shot streaks of yellow over the snowy land, the birds tweeted songs and the people of Ashvale set about their normal routines.
However, though the morning was peaceful, Prince Alexander was not at all at peace. The caramel-haired to-be-King boy was tossing and turning all night. No matter how much he tried, he could not rid his mind of the tall stranger who had so easily gotten into his garden, as well as his thoughts. Jack had invaded Prince Alexander's mind and dreams, it drove the boy close-to-insanity in just a few hours of thinking non-stop about the witty remarks and sarcastic toned voice, the evident smirk, the spiky unnatural two-toned hair, and those two deep pools of brown in his eyes. Jack was like poison, leaking into the Prince's thoughts and claiming them as his own.
On this morning, the Prince groggily arose from his silk sheets and changed into the same clothes of which he wore the day before. His parents would disapprove but, honestly, the Prince could not care less. Today he only wished to see Jack again. As much as it may sound like a cliché act, a Romeo and Juliet scene, like he was madly in love after one meeting; it was quite different. The Prince was not madly in love, he was not seeking out to be rebellious against his father, he was not angry or scared. He was lonely. Prince Alexander had been a royal boy, treat with respect and grand manners all of his life, from day one. He was never given the opportunities to live like a normal village boy, and sometimes, that was an advantage - but other times he wished he was not anything special. When his brother was around, he had a friend. Someone to talk to, laugh with, be stupid with. After his brother, no one was there. He did not have friends. Well, with the exception of Rian the stable boy. Nobody he could laugh with, talk to or be stupid with. He became lonely. And Jack was like a friend, considering they'd only met once before. Jack had managed to make the Prince feel less lonely. Though Jack was mysterious, sarcastic and rude - he still made the Prince, in that short time of meeting, feel like he was not already an adult.
And so, the Prince went to the only place that he felt like he'd find Jack. His secret red-rose garden. On one hand, you could say that was the only place he'd met Jack - and they'd only met once - but, to Prince Alexander, it was a private place. A free place. Jack would not, could not, be caught there and the Prince could think on his own with no interruption.
When Prince Alexander had opened the back wooden door to his well-kept garden, he stepped out into the breeze, shutting the door behind him and then proceeding to sit on the rock above the beds. He swung his legs slightly, dazing off into who-knows-where.
A chuckle broke the air, and bubble, around Prince Alexander. "Well, g'mornin', Alex."
The Prince's head snapped around and his eyes landed upon the tall, lanky boy, who was smirking as always, stood rather awkwardly, with his arms crossed across his chest, and his hair unkempt as it always was.
"Good day to you, Jack."
"So formal," Jack rolled his eyes. He mocked a curtsy towards the Prince. "Your highness."
Prince Alexander cracked a smile at the obvious sarcasm that dripped with every letter. It was new; having someone speak to him in a sense so informal, he was a royal, after all, but Jack did not seem like one to change like that. Prince Alexander appreciated how equal Jack treated him. To Jack, he was not any different to anyone else - he would not be treat or spoken any differently to. And the Prince liked that. But he did not like rude manners, it was just horrible.
Jack grinned at the caramel-haired boy, who returned it. "How'd you get in this time?"
"Climbed again, of course."
"And the guards?"
Jack tapped the side of his nose twice, winking, signalling that it was a secret. It would not be secret for very long, no doubt, the King would find what happened to his guards and scream at Prince Alexander. Said Prince rolled his eyes playfully at the gesture.
