Leaving Amy's apartment was disappointing but after seeing my brother's call I had to leave. I know being honest is a foundation that she wants to build with whatever we have but I was not ready to talk about my family. I would like for her to still see me as an accomplished Chef with no Mummy Daddy issues.

She's different, if you asked me, I would have said she was a spoilt brat who was used to getting attention anywhere she went. She did not look like someone who was bullied or had body insecurities, to me she looked like a sexy bombshell.

An independent black woman who would make anyone beg for her curves but I guess we all had our issues and I for one had no right to assume considering the lengths I went through to stay away from my family.

When I reached my studio apartment, I found Tate waiting for me. He was wearing a hat and shades, no doubt avoiding his fans. The moment his bodyguard saw me, he walked away, leaving only me in the hallway. "What can I help you with", I asked walking past him and going straight to unlocking the door. I haven't seen any of them since the last family party.

They never cared that I was there anyway, too busy rubbing their successes in front of one another. "I need a break, that's all. This is the only place that they won't look... Please Liam", he pleaded, Tate never begged for anything in his life yet here he was seeking refuge so I welcomed him in.

The moment we walked in, he made himself comfortable on the couch so I went ahead with my usual routine. I took a shower and then got in bed. I sent Amy a goodnight message which she replied almost immediately making me smile. Tate was now lying down on the couch. He didn't make a fuss about it; he was busy looking through his phone.

"Mind telling me what's going on?", I asked trying to break the ice. "You remember Sandy? The girl Mum invited last time?", he asked making me try to remember. Mum always tried to fix our love lives too, at least my sister's and brothers'.

Sandy, finally I remembered, she was a blonde girl who kept on laughing at whatever Tate said. "Yap, your number one fan?", I teased but he didn't return the energy. "Well yes, her. Mum sent me on a date with her and I fell in love with her. We were fooling around and she took a photo of us naked in the shower. Her boyfriend saw it and started blackmailing me. I didn't know it at the time, I thought that he was just some hacker but when I hired a PI. He discovered that the dude and Sandy had a history.

She claimed it was over the moment we started getting serious and that's not even the worst part, Mum knew and she chose not to tell me about it. She paid the dude off when he refused to break up with Sandy but he got greedy. He asked to meet with Sandy for closure and when they met, he pretended to have misplaced his phone and borrowed Sandy's, that's how he got the photo.

Anyways, I've sorted the issue out and I just wanted to get some space from them", he said looking at the ceiling. I was surprised. Tate and Mum were tight, he was like the golden boy, and to see them in such a state, kinda made me feel bad for him considering Mum being full of disappointment and having unlimited discouraging words was normal for me.

"Do you love her? I mean, is she worth it?", I asked and I knew he would know to whom I was referring. "Yes, I love her like crazy but I just need to clear my head for a bit. Sandy is the one man, that I'm sure of", he said scrolling through his phone, I was willing to bet that he was looking at pictures of them.

I woke up early and made breakfast for Tate then left for work. I knew he was not going to move an inch. The dude had a maid for everything. I was the first one to reach the kitchen as usual. I was finishing up my prep when my phone rang. I answered the moment I saw Amaryllis's name on the screen.

"Good morning, Chef Liam", she said seductively making me swallow hard. "Good morning, Amy, Can I see you?", I asked and heard the kitchen door being opened. She walked in looking sexy in her formal dress. "Hey", she said when she was standing right in front of me, with no distance left between us.

"You look amazing", I said then snaked my hand on her waist, I kissed the hell out of her until I heard her moan. Good, she'll have something to remember the whole day. "I just wanted to say hi", she said pulling back to look into my eyes. "Thank you, Amy, I needed that", I said kissing her forehead and then letting her go.

The rest of the day went on perfectly until Mia came up with the idea that we should go visit Valerie to see the twins with presents. She claimed that we were a team and we should have gone to see her a long time ago. I texted Amy after work just to let her know I was leaving early and then went shopping with Mia. Since they had two boys Mia picked baby boy clothes, twice of everything. She was excited but I wasn't. Not that I didn't want to meet the kids but I didn't want to see her all lovey-dovey with her happy family, at least not yet.

"Zain, congratulations", I said with a neutral voice and he accepted my handshake leading us into his house. The place was nice and homey. I didn't expect that but I guess that's what happens when you're married and have kids. Things become more comfortable.

"Hi guys!", Valerie said excitedly as she walked in with babies in each of her hands. Mia took one of the boys from Valerie's hand while leaving me with the other. I carried the handsome lad, he looked happy to see me. "Woah! You're good with kids", Valerie said taking a picture of us and then Mia and her other baby.

We sat and talked about all that happened since she started maternity leave. Zain was sitting quietly listening as his wife complained about how she missed work and our company. He looked happy. Valerie always had a thing about bringing smiles to people's faces so I was not surprised.
