Valentine's Week, Day 1: Rose Day 🥀
Sitting alone in the gloom
An unanticipated train of thought
Reminded me of the red rose
That you gave me
One year ago today.
I had a sudden urge to find it
And to look for it, so I mined it
Found it pressed between the pages
Of my leather bound diary which had
My unsent letters to you at display.
It was withered, yet so beautiful
All the petals still holding on to each other
Just like I wanted us to grow old
Together. Forever.
But I guess we won't.
It wasn't the same kind of beautiful
As it was when fresh
Looking at it, something took me over
I started counting the petals- chanting
"We'll be fine." And "We'll be not."
The last petal said "We'll be fine."
Which intensified my longing for you
Hoping you'll find me again
Just like I found your rose
And tell me "Love, we'll be fine. I love you..."
Happy Rose Day, dear readers!🥀
