I told Lily I wanted to be part of planning my bridal shower, so I was well aware of when it was, unlike Charles. Lily, however, insisted that she and the bridesmaids do all the setting up and that my mom and I show up later.
So I pick my mom up and we're almost at L'Orange Verte.
"Êtes-vous excité?" she smiles at me. (Are you excited?)
I nod. "Oui. C'est le dernier événement avant le mariage. Cela signifie qu'il ne reste que sept jours avant le mariage." (Yes. This is the last event before the wedding. This means that there are only seven days left until the wedding.)
She asks me how Charles' enjoyed his bachelor party and I tell her that he had fun, leaving out the details about Charlotte and the drama. I don't know if my mom checks social media, or if she saw any of the stories that did the rounds, that poor Mia had to kill in her free time, but I don't want to talk about it with my mom, so I keep it brief.
We climb out of the car and I give the valet my keys before I straighten out my white dress.
I smile at my mom when she tells me that I look beautiful, and take her hand as we walk in.
Lily spots us and rushes over, linking her arm with me.
"You are going to love it!" she smiles. "It's so you."
I smile back at her. "Thank you for making this happen Lily. You are the absolute best."
"I know." she grins. She tells my mom to go in before me and stands outside of the restaurant with me. "Between Kelly and I, we'll make sure that anything you drink is non-alcoholic."
"Thank you, Lil." I give her a hug. "Thank you for everything you've done for us over the last few months. You are the best friend a girl could ask for."
She laughs. "Oph, please, you're going to make me cry before I get to my speech."
I hug her tightly. "You look gorgeous by the way."
She looks down at the black dress she's wearing, the bridesmaids had gone out and got matching blush pink dresses for today.
She rolls her eyes. "Says you in this beautiful white dress! Let's go in. Everyone is waiting for you."
I take her hand and she leads me into the restaurant.
The place is beautiful. White and pink drapes are hanging down over the overhead terraces, there are beautiful flowers around the whole restaurant, and the tables all look beautiful, with blush pink table clothes, and flowers in the center, all set beautifully. There's a beautiful photobooth with pink and gold balloons, drapery, and flowers.
I look around and smile widely. It's perfect.
Everyone starts clapping and cheering when I walk in. I stand next to Lily and wave at them all before I make my rounds, hugging everyone who is there.
I get to the table where my mom and Pascale are and give them each a massive hug, thanking them for helping with everything and telling them that I love them.
I go over to the table that's assigned to me, Lily, Kelly, Isa, and Carmen. I give them each a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek.
We sit down and Kelly takes her place on a small stage that has been set up, she clears her throat and then speaks into the microphone.
"Hi everyone, my name is Kelly. I'm lucky enough to be one of Ophelia's bridesmaids. I'll just want to start this afternoon by thanking all of you for coming today. Ophelia is such a lovely person, and she gives so much love to everyone she meets, which is evident by the number of people who have come out to celebrate our beautiful bride to be today. I hope everyone enjoys the afternoon, and that we can show Ophelia how much she is loved before she becomes Mrs. Leclerc. Please enjoy!" she smiles before taking her seat again.
