MONACO 2026
"Allons-nous voir papa?" Julie bounces up and down in front of the mirror in her bedroom. (Are we going to see daddy?)
I smile at her in the mirror. "Oui, nous verrons papa bientôt. Restez immobile." (Yes, we will see daddy soon. Stand still.)
She stops moving and smiles at me in the mirror as I finish tying her hair up and covering the elastic with a red ribbon.
"Rosso per Ferrari. Forza Ferrari!" she chimes. (Red for Ferrari. Forza Ferrari!)
I laugh, Charles has been switching between French and Italian with her while I speak to her in English and French. She's picked up on the languages nicely and understands basic instructions in all three languages. Carlos wanted us to teach her Spanish but we quickly drew the line at that. He still teaches it to her when we're not listening though.
When I'm done I kiss the top of her head.
She beams at herself in the mirror. "Pretty."
"Beautiful." I smile. "Let's get your brothers into the car." I hold my hand out and she places her little hand in mine, singing a song that Charles sings to her before bed.
We walk into the twin's room and she rushes over to the rocking chair, climbing into it and making it rock back and forth.
I dress Lyam and Mylan into little Ferrari onesies and then pick them both up. I tell Julie to follow me and hold onto the railing on the stairs.
I follow behind her slowly, making sure she doesn't stumble.
When we reach the landing she runs to the stroller, and starts pushing it toward the door.
"Wait, Julie. Let me put the boys into their car seats first!" I call out to her.
"Papa! Papa! Papa!" she chimes.
"Encore un peu de temps, Julie. Être patient." I sigh, strapping the boys one by one into their car seats. (Just a little while longer, Julie. Be patient.)
Once the boys are in their seats I clip the seats to the stroller and place the diaper bag and Julie's backpack into the bottom. Julie climbs into her seat in the front.
"Let's goooooo." she groans.
I laugh. "We're goooooing."
We pull into our parking spot at the Monaco GP and Julie squeals loudly, starting to undo her car seat belt. "Uncle Chilli!"
I turn and see Carlos leaning against the car next to us. He starts waving at Julie and steps towards the door.
I unlock and he opens the door, he catches Julie as she jumps into his arms, squealing.
I laugh, rolling my eyes. She loves Carlos.
Carlos speaks to Julie in Italian while I get the boys out of the car and into the stroller.
"I'll carry her in." he smiles at me.
"Hi." I sigh with a laugh.
He laughs. "You look great, being a mother of three suits you so well." He steps closer to me and pulls me into a hug. "Isa is excited to see you."
"I'm excited to see her." I laugh. "You ready to fight through the press?"
He nods, shifting Julie to the other arm so that she's in between us.
"Where's Charles?" I say as we walk through the security gates.
"You know, world champion home race things." Carlos shrugs.
