Wednesday POV:
The four of us took a step back, Tyler's dad in front, shielding us. The shambling corpse made its way toward us, its eyes following us with each step we took. Tyler's dad was the first to speak.
"James. What the hell did you do?" His maniacal laugh filled the small room.
"I rectified a situation your son created Donovan. I'd call us even now." He walked past us and up to the monster, its eyes finally peeling away from us to look at him.
"It's good to see you again my boy. I'm so glad you're back." He hugged him but the creature made no attempt to reciprocate. James stopped and looked at him.
"Rowan. It's me. Your father. I'm here." The creature continued to stare blankly at him. Then before anyone could react, one of the corpses' hands changed into giant claws, the four claws piercing straight through James Laslow's chest, even his array of powers not able to stop himself from being impaled by his son.
"Wh-Why?" The monster leaned down to his ear and finally spoke, still loud enough for the rest of us to hear. Its voice was rough and gravelly. It was not Rowan who was speaking.
"Your son is gone, old man. You turned him into a weak, sniveling fool who was so obsessed with what was to come that he couldn't even see what was happening to himself. You failed him." These were the last words James Laslow ever heard before the claws retracted, the wounds in his chest pouring out blood, his body falling to its knees before falling back, the last breath leaving his body.
Everyone's eyes were wide, including mine. The beast's attention was once again focused on us, not just us, but Tyler. To my surprise, Tyler stepped forward, standing just a few feet away from the monster. I reached out my arm to try and stop him but missed.
The creature stared at Tyler, not in a vicious way, but more in curiosity.
"Hyde?" A low chuckle escaped the monster's throat. He took a step toward Tyler, a small click being heard as Tyler's dad unbuckled his holster to grab his gun. The monster's head snapped towards us, a now angry expression, pretty much telling us "don't even think about it." Tyler held his hand up, telling his father to stop. Reluctantly he took his hand off the holster.
"It can't be."
"It is. In the flesh. Sort of anyway." He held up one of Rowan's still decaying arms, the bones protruding through the skin in more than one place.
"Well. Now that Laslow is dealt with, how about we put you back in my body?" The monster laughed once again.
"What makes you think I want to be back inside your head? For the longest time you saw me as a disease! Something to get rid of!" His half-decayed face turned angry. I watched as Tyler's head lowered in guilt.
"That was before. Before we became more than monsters." He scoffed.
"You just wanna control me again don't you? Tyler Galpin is useless without his pet Hyde to take care of the ugly stuff right?! Not this time." He made his way toward the door but Tyler stepped in front of him.
"I can't let you do this."
"I don't want to hurt you. But I wi-" Suddenly he collapsed to the floor, holding his head, and a low growl came from his throat.
"It's his fault! It's your fault!" The monster yelled and looked right at Tyler, his once smug expression now nothing more than a bloodthirsty grin.
I realized what was happening and grabbed Tyler, quickly bringing him back to the group.
"What the hell is happening?!" I could see Tyler was confused and afraid.
"Before Rowan died, his telekinetic abilities had made him insane. That's why he attacked me that night outside the Harvest Festival." I could see the gears in Tyler's head turning as he formulated what to say.
