"Going out on a rainy day is the worst," Al Haithem scoffed feeling thick drops of chilling water splash against his skin. Merely moments later it began to rain like it was a monsoon. The Scribe glanced over at the woman walking beside him. "I rather enjoy the rain," Aisha replied, nudging his ribs. "Well, I believe this weather is perfect for doing nothing at all..."
Aisha rolled her eyes at his random statement. "I'm only joking, Aisha." "Whatever, Scribe." Al Haithem glanced over at the Adeptus, the pouring water had her white hair sticking against her skin, making her look so much younger than she actually was.
Al Haithem lightly wrapped a hand around her wrist leading her to his apartment. Soon after climbing up three cases of stairs, Al Haithem pushed open his door, revealing a book lovers' dream. Books everywhere, in stacks, on shelves, and resting on every counter. Aisha followed the Scribe into his home wearily. "Relax, I'm sure no harbinger will appear out of the blue." A smile tugged at Aisha's lips at his comment. "I wonder if you have anything in my taste of books," Aisha pondered aloud, circling the stacks of books and occasionally lifting one up.
Al Haithem let out a groan sitting down in Kaveh's favorite chair. "Pick anything you like, we have a thunderstorm brewing outside, I'm sure it's hours before it's left." Aisha grabbed a book about the history of Sumeru, "You could've asked me any question from that book," Aisha met his confident gaze, with sleep-lidded eyes, "I'm sure I'll be fine."
Whether minutes or hours passed, the storm didn't let up. Aisha sighed setting the book down, she knew more about LIyue and Inazuma than such a complex rainforest nation. "Al Haithem?" The scribe looked up from his book. "Read to me will you?" A warm smile stretched across his lips. "Come here then." Aisha stood up from the couch opposite of Al Haithem. The scribe shift his position on Kaveh's chair so Aisha could sit with him. Aisha with her back against the plush of the arm and lifted her long legs over Al Haithem's lap.
Aisha closed her eyes listening to him read aloud. Slowly Aisha opened her eyes to solely focus on his lips and the fingers of his free hand gliding over the revealed skin of her calf. Aisha sighed, a relaxed smile on her face taking form naturally. Al Haithem glanced over at Aisha, resting. "Should I stop?" He whispered leaning closer to Aisha.
"It's perfect to do nothing," she recited. Aisha shifted to sit up against the arm of the couch, and Al Haithem took it as an invitation to pull her against him. He could feel her tensing up against him, so he began to trace circles on the back of her hand.
"It's perfect to rest," He murmured, closing his eyes to the warmth of Aisha cradled against him.
