Sometime in February 2944
You were coming back from work. Seonghwa was waiting at the ground floor for you like the cute little kid he was. You waved bye to Mingi. He insisted on dropping you after work once every week though you assured him none of it would be necessary. Him being the stubborn T he is, didn't listen.
You went on cute little dates, sharing ice cream, going to amusement parks, texting and calling all while teaching Seonghwa the basics. Seonghwa was not a slow learner. It seemed that the chemicals that were needed to activate the braincells were lacking in amount but not non existent. It only needed a little trigger to activate them. In less than a week Seonghwa was fluent in human studies. He was still curious about many things.
"You have been meeting Mr. Mingi pretty often these days."
"Ya, he just tells me things about you. He says you've improved a lot." You answered as a matter of fact.Well that wasn't the only thing you would meet him for. It was a good sign that he was observant. You've been on cute dates and he's noticed it.
"When are we going for my next check up?" he asked.
"He said you've stabilized so check ups won't be that frequent"
There was a short pause as Seonghwa read the newspaper. He insisted on reading newspapers to improve his English.
"Will I ever get older?" he asked.
"Do you.... do you wanna grow out of-"
"No! Just because I want to get older doesn't mean I want to be away from you! I want to help you!"
"You're already helping Hwa"
"Not the way I want to! I want to be able to support myself. I want to support-"
You pulled him into a hug and rubbed his back. He actually cared about you but you were scared, scared that you weren't able to give him a childhood the way you had. He couldn't go to school, he couldn't make friends there. If what Mingi said is right then hopefully he'd get good friends in college. He also said something else but you weren't sure if you could tell that to Seonghwa.
Mother's milk always fastens growth. If it came to very desperate measures you'd have to use it. There were chances that he grew at the pace of human. You were lowkey hoping for that. You wanted to give a normal life. Seonghwa seemed to not want that. As a guardian you let him have a choice. If he doesn't want to grow at a slow pace, you shouldn't force him to.
You got a call from San. You picked up and straightened hearing him panting.
"San what's wrong?"
"I think it-it's coming now."
"Where are you?"
"I'm in our dining room."
"I'm coming upstairs, don't panic okay? Did you call Wooyoung?"
"You know he works on Saturdays. I didn't want to-"
"San, he's equally a father of the child as you are." you spoke in the lift with Seonghwa holding tightly onto your pinky. "He deserves to know"
"He'll be there with Mingi anyways" you heard as you opened the door.
"Seonghwa call Wooyoung" you handed him the phone. You carried San bridal style as you asked permission to use the neighbour's car. You rapidly drove to the hospital where you told the receptionist the details as San was carried into the operating room. Seonghwa watched everything absorbing his surroundings.
"I'm sorry but are you his spouse?"
"No, but-"
"That would be me" Wooyoung showed his ring. They purchased it the day after meeting Wooyoung's parents. The guilt of not having labelled each had swept him that day. It probably had something to do with how the meeting had gone.
