Ch-1: Gifted

It was a rainy but well awaited day. You were all dressed up for Wooyoung, your roommate's birthday. Dressing up would be an exaggeration because you had a talent for looking good in anything and everything.

"Happy birthday bro!" you wished him as he opened the door.

"What a fancy surprise! Here I was thinking you were boycotting me today or something."

"Oh! Boycott you? I don't see it happening."

"Anyways, I wanted to tell it's been 2 years since I met Sannie!"

"Is it already two years?? Time sure flies fast."

"Oh my! You brought cake!" he said excitedly. "Well I wouldn't have let you in if you didn't." he said playfully.

"Hey San"
"Hey Hongjoong" 

You sat on Wooyoung's chair while San was sitting on his bed. Wooyoung kept the cake box on his study table and went to search for a knife. He stabbed the box at the area with tape.

"Dude I'll do it." you said afraid that he might deform the cake you bought. "Here, now cut it. No wait, I'll get this on camera."

You sang the happy birthday song with San and Yeosang joined singing through the video call as Wooyoung cut the cake. He gave the first piece to you, then pretended to give Yeosang and then gave San. He gave in the order of meeting them. 

He met you first when you were 4. Wooyoung had bit your arm on the first day of kindergarten. You came home with a red mark. You thought it was his way of showing friendship (which you were right about) but your parents thought it must be reported to the teacher. You've always known that Wooyoung was a weird kid but that never bothered you. After all he bit you on your first meeting. At first your parents were worried about you spending a lot of time with Wooyoung but soon Yeosang joined which helped tame Wooyoung a bit. After meeting Yeosang and his parents, your parents allowed to meet Wooyoung and Yeosang freely.

You three did everything together till 12th grade. You went to different colleges later but still kept in touch. Like now! Wooyoung introduced San to him a few weeks after his 19th birthday. He said that he got San from the store but you never understood what he meant because whenever you asked him if he 'met' him in the store he'd disagree.

Anyways, today was the day your best friend, Jung Wooyoung was turning 21. You always gifted something nice since he's been with you for so long. Wooyoung would also always do the same, but this time he didn't. He didn't gift you anything for your 21st birthday. You didn't mind it though. I mean it's not like he forgot it. You guys did celebrate it together but you felt that Wooyoung was getting closer to San. You knew it wasn't a bad thing. Wooyoung was always loud and extroverted but now you felt lonely. You were in your room after the mini-party you just had. Just then someone knocked the door.

You opened the door but no one was there outside. A post-it was attached to the gift wrapped box lying in front of your door. 'From Wooyoung' it read.

You quickly unwrapped the to-be-an-exciting part of your life. There was another note which you did not open yet with the box which showcased a doll without any details on it. It read 'Park Seonghwa' on the label. You proceeded to open the note not understanding why another man's name was written on it.

If this parcel was delivered after your birthday then I'm gonna have to fight the delivery company but anyways I hope you have a great year. Here's your birthday gift. It's very special. I'm sorry that I haven't been able to spend much time with you since last year but here's something that can help that. Put it in water. It should grow in a week. Wait for the surprise( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)

You smiled at the note. It was well overdue. You gave Wooyoung a call.

"Ay, you have fight ahead."

"It finally came, good for you. Don't worry, it wasn't too expensive. Did you put it in water yet?"

"Oh? I'm supposed to put the doll in water?"

"Yes, it's like a plant. It'll grow into a person soon. Put in in your bath tub." he said. You could feel his excitement from the way he spoke.

"How long would it take?" you curiously asked.

"It's no fun if you know. Record your reaction later ok."

"Record my reaction? That's an odd request." you gave a thought. "Is it really that fascinating?" you questioned yourself.

Listening to his words you unpacked the box and let the little toy afloat. You wondered how this toy would grow like a plant.
