Scorpia tugged my hand and ushered me along with extra urgency that I hadn't noticed before. Lifting her head, she pressed her rouge lips together in deliberation. Her crimson ringlets seemed to be redder than a flame and her pupils gazed back into mine.
"This way. You're coming with me Isobel. I don't trust you anymore after THAT." Intertwining her fingers with mine, she managed to find a metal ladder positioned directly to heaven. Inspecting it closely, I noticed the metal was starting to rust and the screws were clinging to the wall and just managed to keep it from collapsing into a heap.
"I don't trust this one bit. Can't we just go the way we did before?" I mumbled but the others had already started to climb the ladder at a quickening pace. Not wanting to be left behind, I had no other choice but to follow along. Scorpia insisted that she held onto me as I climbed as she was worried I'd run off to the pub. However, I felt as though she was more worried I'd run off to Vex.
"Once we are on the ship, you can have a beer. We just need to complete this mission, alright?" She spat in a bitter tone. I assumed it was because I had interrupted the mission.
"Look. If you don't want me in this crew, why don't you just leave me here? I'm sure I'll be able to create myself a nice little life near the Spanish coast selling bangles and shit." I grimaced as my hand gripped onto the bar of the ladder that was covered in a thick layer of rust that crumbled and shed into my reddening hands. Eventually,I managed to position myself on the ladder and scale up it, Scorpia pulled on my arm almost out of the socket to bring me to my feet on top of the buildings once again.
"Oh sure you would. I wouldn't just KIDNAP anyone. Don't you know how risky it is?!" Out of the blue, her cheeks started to burn and she turned away. That comment weirdly warmed my heart. Scorpia turned away and led the other two as we glided from building to building.
"You Fucking tell me. You never tell me anything anyways." I mumbled almost inaudibly but Scorpia huffed and attempted to add something to the argument until Bonnie interrupted.
"It's here. Oh jolly good! I found it." An authentic grin grew on her face as she skipped over to a glass dome that looked into a very grand looking building. The glass was stained a bright vermillion that glimmered in the thickening rays of the sun. Elaborate designs of wild flowers were stained into the glass, it's thick vines running down the exterior of the dome. Bonnie immaturely pressed her face against the glass and started to compress her tiny nose into it. I wondered what she was looking at until I realised. The other group was probably down there. Scorpia fumbled in her multi purpose belt and retrieved the rope from before and started to attentively wrap it around Bonnie's waist.
I was curiously noticed that Raven had also been up to something who was balancing on the top of the dome. She made a small incision in the thick glass with a metal tool that was unfamiliar to me and started to carve a circular hole in the centre of the dome.
"Can someone please explain what it going on?" I was replied to by nothing but silence until Bonnie whispered in my ear.
"Look through the glass." Slowly nodding, I crouched down and stared directly into the dome. A faint glisten of something that shimmered in the yellow rays instantly caught my eye. A cardinal jewel no bigger than my hand sat high upon a royal blue pillow lined with thick tassels. It twinkled and captivated my attention for about two seconds until I turned to the three with a collapsed jaw.
"All this.. for that?" Was all i managed to say.
"Yup." Scorpia said, ensuring the knot was perfectly secure around Bonnie.
"So you're telling me. Ive travelled over 1000 miles AND I've fallen off a building.. for that?" The three turned to me with vacant expression.
"That's not just any old jewel. It's the king's jewel. Ferdy won't be happy to see this gone as it's rumoured to have the location of treasure hidden by this ancestors inside it but no one has managed to figure it out. Look a little closer." I obeyed and pressed my face againts the glass, desperate to see as they started to lower Bonnie down into the incision Raven had made.
