Calm before the Storm

(Y/N) wanted to do nothing but crawl into a hole. It was Monday morning, the sun was obscured by the clouds in the sky and the air was freezing. Hanni joined her best friend in the walk towards their school, the two chatting about movies and music, hoping to distract themselves from the inevitable situation about to happen.

Minji and (Y/N) were going to talk.

After the events of yesterday, (Y/N) could barely sleep due to her brain running at one million miles an hour. Minji was ever present in her thoughts; her cute smile, her nose scrunches and her 'angry' expressions when the food she ate was good.

Not only was (Y/N) slightly sleep deprived - she was terrified.

(Y/N) was no stranger to being a mushy mess around people she liked, but her foolishness increased whenever she was around Minji.

She didn't want to loose her relationship, whatever it was, with Minji.

(Y/N) didn't even realise that they had arrived at the school gates. She looked around and saw a familiar girl standing at the gate.

It was Kim Minji.

Against her desire to remain composed in public settings, (Y/N) lifted her arm and waved, calling out:

"Minji - ah!"

The girl in question made eye contact with (Y/N) and shyly smiled, waving back at her.

Hanni snuck off to join the other three girls, ushering them away in order the give the two eldest some privacy from them.

Hyein protested, but she realised that Hanni wouldn't budge, so she sulked and held Danielle's hand as they walked away.

The two girls watched their friends walk away, before turning to each other again. (Y/N) offered her hand, and Minji slipped her hand into the elder ones. Hand in hand, the two of them walked to class after changing their shoes. Entering the classroom, their friends sent knowing looks at them, silently teasing. Sitting down at their respective places, they got ready for the day.

During the periods of Physics (which (Y/N) was actually good at) and Korean Literature, Minji and (Y/N) made eye contact multiple times - sharing small smiles, brushes of hands against arms, and bumping their legs together. Hanni rolled her eyes, these two were so sickeningly cute and oblivious.

After excruciating lessons, it was recess. Minji and (Y/N) went to their usual place on the roof - looking at the skyline of Seoul. There was a silence, allowing for (Y/N) to collect her scattered thoughts.

"Minji - ah, about yesterday..." began (Y/N), fiddling with her blazer buttons.

"I want to try (Y/N) - ah." said Minji suddenly

(Y/N) turned to the shorter girl, slightly shocked. Was she dreaming?! Did Minji just say that she wanted to try?!

"We can't let anyone know." Minji added, staring intently up at (Y/N), her brows furrowed.

(Y/N) couldn't help but feel a little disappointed, but she understood. Korea was a conservative place. Sure, there were Gay and Lesbian people, but it was dangerous. (Y/N) stayed silent for a while, sorting her thoughts.

She would stay quiet, only for Minji.

"Okay." replied (Y/N), sending a smile at Minji

There was another silence, but it was filled with mutual, but shy affection. Minji found herself reaching towards (Y/N)'s hand resting on the railing of the roof, and cupping her hand over it. It was a simple action, but sent both of them into blushing messes. (Y/N) found herself grow bold, she reached the hand which wasn't held under Minji's to her jaw. She turned Minji to face her, and made eye contact with the shorter girl.

"(Y/N - ah, what -" she was cut off as (Y/N) leaned down.

(Y/N) was kissing Minji.

The cliché feeling of sparks and fireworks?

Total crap.

Son (Y/N) only felt calm.

Like a sunny day after a stormy night. That feeling when looking at the sunset on a summers day. Having a calming cup of tea after a long day.

They broke away from each other, breathless and red faced. (Y/N) winced when Minji didn't react and started to move out of her personal space, but was pulled back into smaller girl by her blazer collar. They were both late back to class and received a berating from their teacher, but (Y/N) didn't care.

Hanni silently observed the two girls, and by the slightly bruised lips, and the suspicious red mark under (Y/N)'s left ear, and one peaking out from under Minji's collar, she was confident something had happened between the two.

Whether it was for the better or the worse, Hanni wasn't sure.
