MIA'S FRONT PORCH !! ───────────────── ☀︎ 11:05 a.m.

"Bye for the last time, loser" you stop by the house belonging to the girl who probably just flirted with your ex last night, the girl you were used to spending all your summers with. The girl who you were about to hand the responsibility of looking after your brothers to.

"You'll text me when you get there?" She looked like she had just dragged herself out of bed, eyes red, hair in a tangle—yet she somehow managed to look like an angel with her dark hair dragging down her barely covered shoulders.

"I'll text you when I get laid" you weren't even sure they had sufficient wifi where you were heading "if Hiro and Haku start harassing you while I'm gone, you can just put a bit of vinegar in a spray bottle and..." you pause, watching her expression actively shrivel the more you explain "yeah, you can probably read in the lines with that one" you pat her arm

"You're talking about your brother's like they're animals" she chuckles, arms crossed like she was holding back from smacking you across the face. She seemed to be silently furious over the fact that you wouldn't be just across the street when she needed you—instead logging across the state in some rinks dink summer camp.

"Mia" you put your hand on her shoulder

"Huh?"

"They are." You say "They are animals, and if you don't watch them, there will be an eight-wheeler where that living room is" you move out of the way just to point to the little house across the street

When you look back at her there's a disturbed expression left where the judgmental one was "I'll call you if I see any smoke rising from the house" she agrees "which means I'll probably call you tomorrow" she gave you the 'you better answer or I'll cut off your nonexistent ballsack' look.

"Thanks" you take a reluctant step down off of her front porch knowing you were just wasting good driving time at this point "now I'm gonna cross the street, if I get hit I want you to start laughing..like as hard as you possibly can"

"Why..?"

"I dunno" you shrug the strap of your purse back onto your shoulder "it makes for a fun story at the funeral"

"Oh don't worry, I'd laugh even if you didn't ask me to"

"That's my girl" you aren't very good with goodbyes, simply waving till your were back at the rusted old door of that damn mini-van.

This shouldn't be a long ride.

HALFWAY THRU THE DRIVE !! ───────────────── ☀︎ 12:37 p.m.

"Kill me it's so damn hot" you hook your finger beneath the start of your tank top, attempting you let a breeze hit the beads of sweat dotting your skin. You were leaned against the brick just before the gas station's sliding doors. You'd be standing in there right now if you hadn't been shoo'd off by an angry old man with a broom in his hands. The best you were gonna get was the slight whisp of cool air slipped through the automatic doors every time it opened.

"Turn on the AC then" the man sat just beside you has managed to become both a pain in the ass and a nice talking buddy as you waited for your dad to figure out how to pump gas into the antient minivan of yours.
