It was a nice, cold night; the stars were illuminating the sky as the tall, dark trees danced with the breeze.
The street lights at the sides of the dark street flicker, the empty road, and the lit lamps of the houses. All of those were ignored by her as she focused on the guy in front of her.
She was caught in a moment by his enticing eyes, the way his deep brown eyes sparkle in the moonlight. Their encounter was sudden and unexpected, but it felt like something out of a fairytale. It was enchanting. It happened an hour ago when she was busy walking through the quiet neighborhood, lost in her thoughts. She was taking a stroll to clear her mind and find peace in her aching heart. She was yearning to escape the chaos of her life and escape the harsh realities that had been weighing her down.
As she walked, she let her tears fall freely-silently crying as she navigated the dimly lit streets, she didn't notice the motorbike speeding towards her, until she heard screeching tires behind her and turned around in surprise to find him, a stranger on his motorcycle, swerving to avoid her.
Their eyes met in that split second and time seemed to stop as the universe conspired to bring them together in that enchanted moment. He quickly got off his bike and rushed to her side, irritated at first, but quickly melted to concern as he saw the stream of tears running down her face. His face softened and approached her gently.
"Are you okay Miss?" He asked with genuine concern in his voice.
"I'm sorry, i- I just really was thinking about something deeply that I didn't notice my surroundings," she stammered, trying to regain her composure. He gave her a smile that made her heart skip a bit. As she scanned his face, she saw a scratch on his cheek, a small reminder of the near accident they had just experienced.
she walked towards him, her heart racing as she touched his cheek where the scratch was. He winced slightly at the touch, but his eyes never left hers.
"Let me help you clean that up," she offered with a concerned voice.
"no need, it's just a scratch," he said a little coldly.
"no, I insist. It's the least I can do since I almost caused you harm" she said softly, sincerity evident in her words.
He nodded reluctantly as they went to the nearby store to get some antiseptics and bandages. As the store owner handed them the supplies, their hands brushed against each other's and a jolt of electricity seemed to spark between them. They went out and sat on the nearest bench, she took care of his little wound with careful hands, gently applying antiseptic and placing a band-aid on the 'scratch'.
Comfortable silence washed over them and she can't help but hum her favorite song, catching the attention and interest of the guy sitting next to her.
Curiosity got the better of him as he leaned closer, his eyes filled with intrigue.
" what song is that?"
"h-huh? oh-its Taylor Swift's 'Enchanted' " she replied, flustered at how close he was to her face.
" Can you play it out loud? " He requested, pointing at her headphones. His voice was still cold but she can feel the underlying warmth with each word he spoke.
She complied with his request, disconnecting her headphones and letting the familiar melody fill the air. As the intro played out, they both found themselves lost in the enchanting lyrics and melodies of the song.
There I was again tonight
Forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired, lonely place
Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes and vacancy
Vanished when I saw your face
All I can say is, it was enchanting to meet you
Your eyes whispered, "Have we met?"
'Cross the room your silhouette
Starts to make its way to me
The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks
Like passing notes in secrecy
And it was enchanting to meet you
she softly sang along to the song, her voice blending with her favorite singer's sweet melody.
" All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you~"
His gaze softened as he listened to her sing. he didn't know why but he felt drawn to her, it was as if he had known her for a lifetime.
The warmth in his eyes amplified, and he softly whispered,
"I was enchanted to meet you too."
A whisper that she didn't hear as she was immersed in the song, lost in the moment. but his words didn't go unnoticed by the universe, for it seemed to sprinkle a touch of magic over them in that moment, filling the air with a subtle but undeniable connection that neither of them could deny.
When the song ended and the last note faded away, they sat there for a moment, basking in the enchanting atmosphere that now surrounded them. As she walked back to the bench to sit down, she couldn't help but steal glances from him. There was something about his presence that made her heart race, that made her forget about the problems that were weighing her down.
" you sing well," he finally said, breaking the silence and causing her cheeks to flush red with a mix of surprise and happiness.
"T-thank You," she smiled softly, as she looked at him through a shy gaze. He smiled back at her, melting her heart at that moment.
"I wonder if you can also dance well," he stated as he smiled mischievously at her. " May I?" he asked, she didn't know if she was asking for her phone or her hand so she looked at him curiously, unsure of what he meant. He noticed this almost immediately and quickly answered as he laughed at her cute reaction. "both"
She giggled at his playful response, feeling her heart flutter with excitement. She handed him her phone as he chose another song by Taylor Swift: Lover to play.
As he set the music, he took her hand in his, they stood up and began to sway gently with the music, their bodies moving in sync with the melodic rhythm.
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)
You're my, my, my, my
Lover
She sang along as they danced under the soft moonlight, they danced as if they were the only people in the world captivated by the enchanted moment. The song ended as he kissed her hand gently, a sweet gesture that sent shivers down her spine and made her feel as though she was floating in the air.
" You're a great dancer," his gaze softened as he locked eyes with her, their hands still entwined.
" Thank You, I can say the same to you," she replied with a soft smile.
" kook " he introduced himself, smiling so warmly that lit up her dark world.
" lily" she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
They exchanged shy smiles, both filled with a newfound sense of hope and possibility as they were enchanted to meet each other.
