Hey guess what? Laziness didn't take over me! So now I'm finishing this once and for all! It's your lucky day! Enjoy!
3rd POV
7 minutes had passed and the kansens were ready to continue.
Let's do this.
[V]: Concerned at the Soviet Union's human rights violations, he made a speech calling them an "evil empire".
The NP kansens take offense to that statement.
[V]: And he also wanted to renew the arms race using technological advances in computing and lasers.
The word "lasers" immediately reminded the kansens of the Sirens.
[V]: He came up with the Space Defense Initiative, also known as Star Wars.
G. Zeppelin: Interesting.
[V]: Which was basically a big, defensive anti-nuke shield around the country. But a lot of people thought it was a pretty dumb idea.
Scene shows America using the move 'Shield' but it was super expensive.
Belfast: It is, is it not?
Warspite: We may be the richest but even we don't have that kind of budget to develop a shield to protect us from the Sirens. Plus, it'll be way too expensive just to repair it had we actually somehow make it.
[V]: The Soviet Union proceed the shift in rhetoric, as the USA getting ready for war.
Scene shows Reagan holding a firearm.
[V]: And they were feeling especially threatened as their relationship with their communist ally, China, had broken down.
Chen Hai: Good. We didn't want anything to do with that communist faction.
The NP kansens all stare at Chen Hai with slight anger.
Chen Hai: I mean... communist faction in the other world.
The NP kansens all nodded in satisfaction at Chen Hai's autocorrect.
[V]: Relations took a big hit in 1983, when the Soviets shot down a Korean airliner that had strayed into their airspace. And it looked like the world was going right back to mid-20th-century Cold War tension.
Akagi: Getting real sick of this. Can't they just make a truce already?
Amagi: Nothing in life is ever cough cough easy, Akagi. But I do agree, this has gone long enough.
Hiryuu: Even longer than the Second World War which lasted about 6 years.
[V]: But then Brezhnev got really old and died, and was replaced by this guy (Yuri Andropov) who was really old and died, and was replaced by this guy (Konstantin Chernenko) who was really old and died, and he was replaced by Mikhail Gorbachev. Coming into office in 1985, he was the real game-changer.
Avrora: Does he really mean it? I mean, look at Khrushchev. He promised to make changes so that the populace will be happy but instead he made it worse.
Tallinn: At least it was better than when Stalin was in power.
Chkalov: We don't talk about him. He tainted communism. And that's why I hate him.
Chapayev: But the question is, will Gorbachev become like the previous leaders or will he go down his own path?
Kirov: Only one way to find out.
