Five years later

I sat in my dorm fuming. Stella smirked as she took the last piece from the game board. I sighed looking at her. "One of these days I will win, '' I declared.

Stella smiled at me warmly then taped her chin as if in thought. "Hmmm, nope!" She smiled at me when she said it. I frowned at her and she just smiled more. I sighed and grabbed a piece of paper. I started to draw her smiling face. Stella smiled even more when she saw what I was doing. I looked up at her and kept drawing. I looked at the image when I was done, feeling satisfied.

Stella looked at the picture and beamed. It captured her way of laughing and smiling. I looked back over at Stella, she was reaching for a book. I smiled mischievously and slapped the book out of her hand. Stella smirked when I grabbed the book off the floor. I looked at the back and yawned.

"Is this science?" I asked, looking over at her. She covered her face, hiding her playful grin. Then she reached down and grabbed a different book from her shelf by her bed. "Ahh, you tricked me!" I exclaimed then grabbed her other book out of her hand. She huffed and I read the back of the book out loud "Morm had died though he had woken up and found himself in a different world and Emmy is trying to find him... Blah, blah, blah." I told her. She smirked and took the book back.

"You should read more!" Stella told me amused. I grinned back at her then I started laughing. I never felt as good as I had before I met Stella. I looked back over at her and she had started reading again. I sighed and got another sheet of paper. Stella looked pleased as she saw me drawing the book she was reading.

I sighed dramatically. "And you should draw more." Stella started to giggle. I sat down next to her and pulled the book out of her hand. I grabbed a scrap of paper and slid it in the book where she had been reading. "Come! we need to eat something." I pulled on her arm. She relaxed and let herself be dragged to the lunchroom. She looked at me with bliss as I brought her near the lunch line. It was near lunch so some other Shards were sitting at tables.

I pulled Stella to the lunch line behind Marne. He looked at us and sneered. "Are you going on a date?" I raised my eyebrow at him and Stella looked like she was going to laugh out loud.

I looked at Stella eyebrows still raised. "Are we?" I asked and she giggled.

"I don't know Trellis, sorry. But we best not do anything." We both started to laugh. Marne huffed and got his lunch quickly, and then he went and sat down.

I smiled at Stella as we got our lunches. When we sat down at an abandoned table, Marne walked over to us. I looked up skeptical, "What?" I asked him.

"I think I saw something or someone... It might be a Star... so just stay alert," I nodded in understanding to Marne. He nodded to me then walked off.

Stella shook her head. "You are confused... you seem like you both are about to rip each other apart one moment then the next you are all nice to each other. So strange." I smiled and continued eating silently. I didn't really feel happy if there was a star in the building that could mean that they wanted to finally get rid of us. I looked over at Marne. He was sitting with his friends. I shook my head at him then moved my head towards the girl's table and he nodded in agreement.

That meant that we would not tell the girls about it. they would panic and that would not be good. I sighed and looked around at all the Shards. I looked over at the girl's table. Dona was the 'leader' of the girls. Then I looked over at the boy's table. They were all so much louder than the girls. They were all quietly whispering while the boys were all screaming and yelling. There were lots of quiet boys though the others were too loud. Marne was the 'leader' at that table as he was the Strongest besides me.
