Why him? (Cato love story)

Chap. 8

"Let go of her!" Cato yells.

"You want her to fall to her death and be eaten?" Katniss asks tauntingly, almost dropping me to mock him. I was really scared. I pointed at her hand indicating him to throw a knife there.

Cato threw the knife and it hit her perfectly. She let go. I grabbed Cato as he pushed Katniss off the edge.

"We won?" I ask.

"I think so." Just as he said it Katniss' canon blew.

"And our victors, Cato and Amanda!" Seneca yells.

"Hahaha! We did it!" I yell.

"Yeah, we did." Cato walks up to me and hugs me tightly. We kiss shortly and get into the hover craft.

In the end, I had a broken rib and wrist and Cato had a sprained knee and a pretty bad cut on his upper arm. We didn't end up getting any infections, flus, fevers or anything though.

"You ready to go see Snow?" Cato asks.

"I guess."

We took the train to the Capitol and went to see Snow.

"Hello, Amanda, Cato." Snow said.

"Hello, President Snow." We say together.

"How are you?" He asks.

"Good. Are you getting a replacement for Seneca soon?" Cato asks.

"Yes, I am. Um, can I talk to Amanda alone please."

"Uh, yeah." I say hesitantly.

"Okay, come with me."

I followed him into a sitting room. He closed the door and sat. I went and sat across from him.

"Amanda, you are the most beautiful girl of all Panem and I need more money so will you-" He started but I cut him off.

"No! I'm sorry President Snow, but I'm NOT doing that."

"Than there will be punishment." He says loudly. "I'll start with Cato, I'll kill him. I have Finnick, he's the sexist in Panem, I don't need your little boyfriend. Finnick said no too, but when I got Annie involved... well he changed his mind."

"Fine! I'll do it. Don't tell anyone! Especially Cato."

"Good, I'll get word to the men."

"What?!" I hear someone yell.

I turn and see Cato standing there with his fists clenched.

"Why? How?" He asks.

"Cato, it's her decision, not yours!" SNow yells.

"You want this!?" He yells.

"Cato..." I whimper. "I don't want to, I have to. Please."

"You're forcing her!?"

Cato ran to Snow and asked him again.

"Yes!" Snow says.

Cato rushes out and I follow. We got on the train and went home. We share a victor house. We got ready and went to bed.

I was awoken by a phone call. I picked up.

"Hello, is this Amanda?" A man asks.

"Yes, who is this?"

"I'm just a peace keeper. I called to inform you that President Snow has passed away due to heart attack."

"Oh my! Really? That's not good."

"Now, we want you to take over as president."

"I'd love to!"

"Great you and Cato can come right away."

"Okay, bye."

"Bye."

I ran to the room Cato was in.

"Cato! I'm the new president! Snow died."

"Really? How?"

"Heart attack. Let's go."

When we got off the train we went to my new home.

"Okay, you have to make it official." A peace keeper says.

"Alright."

We were in a meeting and I had to answer diffrent questions.

"WHat do you want done first?"

"No more Hunger Games!" I say immediatly. "Food divided evenly for the districts and no harmful peace keepers."

"Okay, done."

"Great! Wait, more support for famillies of the children that died in the Games."

I got used to being president. People say I'm the best. They treat me like a queen. They love me and I'm happy. I still live with Cato and still we're in love.
