LESLIE POV

Gray, mom, and I spent a few hours unpacking. I was sliding around the shiny kitchen floor when mom appeared in the doorway with her hands on her hips.

"You two are stamping on my last nerves. Go see the town or something before I lock you two in a closet." Giggling I nodded in agreement as I rushed upstairs.

"Kay mom but first I have to change clothes." I heard Gray chuckle as I rushed upstairs. As my feet hit the top step he leaned into the stairway and spoke.

"Try not to dress like a slut." I was laughing as I slammed my door shut.

..............

Ten minutes later I stood in front of the full length mirror putting on black eye liner. I looked directly into my silver eyes and struggled not to see the sorrow there. I guess since mom's were purple mine had to be an odd color as well. I finished with the makeup and I placed my long white-blonde hair into a hairclip so it piled on top of my head then I smiled at the results. My halter rode up past my mid drift , was ragged at the bottom so it seemed to be ripped and said 'Angel' on the front across my breasts. My blue jeans were dark blue bell bottoms long enough to walk on and had pockets in the front instead of the back. I was also wearing a pair of kick ass platform boots that traveled up till mid-calf. Sticking out my tongue I remembered the last outing Sandy and I had taken together. I had gotten my tongue pierced and my mom still hadn't seen it. At least we had fun together and I was going to have today as well. My eyes lingered on the mirror a moment secretly wishing Sandy would appear behind me. Sighing I turned and rushed out the door to take Gray on a tour of the town.

Gray and I walked in silence for awhile after we left the house. I knew he was counting each step in his head so that tomorrow he could walk without holding onto my arm. Trying to enjoy the silence I looked at the houses around me. They all looked pretty huge for a suburban neighborhood in Massachusetts but there was one that towered over the others. I had noticed it when we had first arrived, it was hard not to. I think mom had said it was Zach's. Not really surprising since he practically owned half the town, according to mom. I also knew from mom that there was a path behind our house that led to a bluff overlooking the whole town.

I was drawn out of the observations as we reached the school. My breath took a sharp intake as I looked at it. It was huge even for me and there were huge iron gates surrounding ,it as if to guarantee no student escaped.

"Who are you?" I whirled around to see who Gray was talking to and discovered there was a semi circle of boys surrounding us. None looked very friendly unfortunately the gate that would keep the students in were also keeping us out. So if they were looking for trouble, which they were, we were probably going to have to kick their asses. The boys didn't answer Gray but drew in closer to us. They laughed mockingly as Gray picked up his cane and held it in his hand like a sword. I knew they wouldn't be laughing when he swung it.

"Actually I came to deliver a message." I put a hand on Gray's cane and pushed it down trying to avoid a fight as a guy stepped up behind the ones circling us. His eyes were a bright green and he was hot material with spiked brown hair and a black leather jacket, I was a sucker for bad boys. I crossed my arms across my chest and glared at him. As I spoke I drew my left foot behind me in case I had to fight. Gray wasn't the only one with skills.

"And what exactly is the message?" The guy grinned.

"Well, Leslie and Gray we are the welcoming committee." Some welcome. I was crouched down slightly now as he stepped closer. When I spoke my voice was strong not shaky like it usually was before a fight.

"And what is your name since you know ours?"

"Joey, the message is that you and blind boy better behave yourselves." If he was trying to piss me off it was working. I felt a tightening in my chest when I realized Joey was speaking words that had been placed in his mouth. Words my father had told him to say. I didn't remember much but I remembered enough about father to know this was his doing. Distracted by these thoughts I didn't realize Joey had stepped behind me until he yanked me into a standing position by yanking on my hair. I was looking directly into his eyes when he stopped pulling on my hair and I saw them change form green to black like father's. I remembered then who my father really was and why he had killed Sandy. It had been a warning that I had better turn evil and go to him before others began to die.
