LESLIE POV: PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE
Sara was helping to work our powers that were non active like levitation while Diana was helping with active powers like fire and air. After I'd helped them create a balance, of course. Gray had finally learned to stop floating away and was now working with Diana on not freezing us all to death. We'd discovered when he got scared everything got really cold there were even icicles hanging from his ears like earrings. But after using him as target practice for a good two hours we'd finally been able to take our coats off in this nice ninety degree weather. Sara had finally mastered her telekinesis and could lift her finger and toss us around like rag dolls. Luke was able to be a target since all his powers were inactive but he didn't talk a lot and usually he was harder to shut up than me. Diana didn't have to learn anything because she already had control. I was still destroying everything I attempted to touch, however.
"Leslie! Could you please focus! Your burning my ass here!" Startled I looked up to see Gray jumping around as flames leaped off his ass. Sara put it out and healed his burns as I bit down on my lip trying not to laugh.
"Leslie, try to lift this rock in the air with wind." Diana ignored Gray's outburst and raised her hand so I could see the small rock in her hand. I struggled to call wind and used my hand to wave it up and it flew sideways and knocked Luke in the back of the head. He whirled to face me as I threw my hands up in exasperation.
"I don't get it. At first I was getting this under control but it's like I'm stuck now. Everyone's got...wait a minute." I turned to my right where Matt and Bruno sat lifting weights and talking among themselves.
"Every time I balanced my powers I got more control. Now I'm stuck because of you two. Everyone else had two powers at least. Yet you two only have one. You have to have at least one more power. Which means you two have something else that needs to be balanced. Come here and grasp my hands." They looked skeptically at each other as they each grasped one of my hands. Throwing my head back I closed my eyes as I struggled to gather all my powers to focus on calling theirs forth. I stayed like that for a moment and reached forward with my powers, then with more focus. Finally I found them and pulled back satisfied. Smiling I told Bruno to place his hands on the ground and think about sand and the way it feels.
Slowly he placed his hands on the ground and jumped quickly back as the ground beneath him began to turn into sand. Matt and I watched bemused until it rapidly proceeded to surround us as well. It didn't take me long to figure out her hadn't created sand but quicksand as we started to sink. I grabbed Matt's hand as the others tried to pull us out. I told him to think of fire traveling in a path like lightning. He seemed surprised when lightening flew from his fingertips and turned the sand into glass but it did the trick. Now all we had to do was get our feet unstuck. Using wind I blasted the glass as everyone covered thier eyes. After the glass shattered we all climbed out of the hole that the quicksand had created.
We were so distracted by Matt and Bruno's new powers that we didn't see Gray standing off to the side. None of us saw the snake slithering through the grass towards him. He felt the bite on his leg though. Even as he bent over to look at the snake it was too late. His eyes flashed a bright green. Gray didn't know he was now a spy amongst our group. He would struggle to pit us against each other. None of us knew that Gray was now a puppet in their little game.
DIANA POV
After getting out of the quicksand we all decided to get cleaned up. The group was a strange bunch. Sara loved Luke who loved Leslie. Gray loved Sara and Leslie loved a man that had gotten killed under my protection but they treated each other like family. I watched as Leslie materialized water in her hand and splashed it on Sara who shrieked and hid behind Bruno. I went upstairs to take a bath shaking my head at the strangeness of mortals.
