Julie watched as the boys performed on stage once again, like she had done so many times in the past. She preferred staying in the room and watching the TV rather than meddling in on the gossip with the rest of the makeup team. Did that make her a bit of an outcast? Yes, but she didn't mind. It meant that she was less inclined to be asked useless favours.

Though that day she was bright and joyous. Binna, her friend from high school, was finally going to meet up with her. It had been some time since they had been able to meet up with just the two of them. Binna was getting busier and so was she.

However her world would crumble for many days to follow with what her best friend told her.

"I have been diagnosed with breast Cancer." Binna had said the moment their food had arrived at their table and the waiter had left them. Julie froze in her movement to serve the both of them glasses of water. "It's too late to recover." She let the pitcher fall, shattering to the ground.

She couldn't even look at the waiter as he came back all worried and started cleaning up the broken pieces of glass. Julie couldn't do anything but watch her best friend as she gave her a saddened glance before helping the young boy with the pitcher she had let fall to the ground. Her eyes followed the beautiful woman as she crouched down on the ground and helped the boy.

Some other customers looked at them curiously, but Juslie didn't move. She was frozen.

When it was cleaned up, and that it was only Binna and her in their space. She finally let the tears fall down her face. Streaming down her flushed nose. She was going to bawl her eyes out, but because of the strangers a few tables down looking at them she couldn't. So she let the tears fall down successively and her face scrunched up. She was glad that she had told Binna that she wasn't hungry, because she wouldn't even be able to eat the slice of cake that sat in front of her.

"What do you mean?" She asked in between shattered breaths.

"I mean that my time is counted." Binna smiled at her best friend, leaving over the table to brush the tears away from her cheeks. "I didn't realise soon enough."

"How long have you known?" Julie leaned into her friend's hand, she rubbed the pink skin and retracted herself to sit back down in her seat.

"A week." The slightly older of the two explained, gently cutting a piece of her cake and eating it. "To get my head around it. And tell my soulmate about it." Binna was always pretty to Julie, even if she was sad and tired, she was pretty. Julie watched her friend as she ate, seemingly unperturbed by the news. "I want to live the best I can while trying my best to survive."

Binna looked up to Julie, signing her to eat her food. "I will start treatment in a few days. I hope you'll still find me pretty without my hair." She chuckled quietly as watched her friend finally take a bite of her dessert before the tears started again. Like endless waterfalls on her face.

Julie tried to munch on her spoon of cake but only could do so much with a face that wanted to fall apart or freeze in place with each bite. It was hard to swallow as she watched her friend still shine brightly. But for how long?

"You'll always be pretty in my eyes." She told her friend sincerely. Still shocked by what she had been told. She couldn't even look at her without her eyes prickling and the thought of her friend not being there anymore.

"I'll be strong, sweety." Binna laughed at her friend, not wanting her to show despair in such a beautiful place. She brushed her cheeks free of tears once again and sat back down. "I just need you to be strong for me too. And smile a little."
