Felicity's POV:
Thoughts swirl around in my head, plaguing my mind from events that happened years ago, just like the one that just happened with Oliver, and the fear that it will happen again in just a few minutes.
4:52.
Eight Minutes until the time when I am supposed to meet my family, and I am still sitting in my car, watching them stand on the front porch. I know I have to go get them; its a dangerous neighborhood, and I have no doubt in my mind that all of them at least have wallets on them that probably have a ton of money in them, just in case of an emergency.
Okay, Felicity, you got this. It's just your family, nothing to be worried about. You have gone through so much worse than what is about to happen, and you know that at the end of the day, they will be supportive of you and your decisions.
I take a deep, calming breath, slowing my heart rate down slightly as I wipe any emotions from the rest of the day off my face so that I can finally see my family again. I open the car door, elegantly stepping out of my car, making sure to lock it as soon as I close the door again, fumbling with the keys Sara gave me so that I can open the front door to the house.
"Felicity, Baby, Is that you?" I hear my mom call out for me, not able to really see my face as I approach them because of the darkness that surrounds us.
"Yeah, mom, Its me. Give me one second before we do anything, it's safer to talk inside." I finally find the right key, opening the white door and gesturing to my parents and brother to come inside. "After you."
"Lissy, why are we meeting here? Why not at your place?" Peter asks, a confused look on his face as I relock the door and turn on the lights, a precaution that Oliver drilled into me to do whenever in the glades because of the high crime rate.
"Sorry Peter, my next door neighbor is doing some renovations on his house, and it is extremely loud. My friend got this place from her aunt who died a few months ago and I just thought it would be better seeing as we could be uninterrupted. It's in a bad neighborhood, but other than that it is quiet. How are you guys? I haven't seen any of you in so long. You've changed." I explained to them the lie that I had come up with based off of Sara's earlier advice, slightly changing the subject afterwards and going to give my mom and dad a hug, making sure to let them know that I really am happy to see them before moving onto Peter.
"We're good. A little bit worried about you. Felicity Megan Stark-Potts, you need to call us more often and update us on what is happening in your life! Since when are you the personal assistant of Oliver Queen?" Mom asks, her 'you are not getting out of this one missy' signature look on her face. It gives me flashbacks to when I snuck out of the tower for the first time to go to a concert and they quite literally caught me in the act because, unbeknownst to me, they went to the same concert...
In my defense, I NEVER thought I would see my parents at a indie rock concert with over 60,000 people in attendance.
It was a serious case of bad luck that we just happened to be in the same section.
Said bad luck followed me well into my young twenties.
"Seriously, Felicity, you made that meeting this morning a serious rollercoaster of emotions. I would have liked a heads up." I guess it's not surprising that dad would agree with my mom. They think alike in general, but when it comes to their kids, it's like they share the same brain sometimes.
"In my defense, you guys didn't even tell me you were visiting Starling City, much less coming to my place of work! And since when do you guys bring Peter to meetings?"
"Since we decided I was going to take college business classes at MIT on top of my high school classes so I can graduate with two years of college already done and take over SI two years after high school instead of four so that mom and dad can retire sooner." Peter jumps into the conversation, providing information that is way too much for me to handle.
