(Mulan's POV)
I watch as my father tries to use his sword. He ends up dropping the sword and leaning against the wall. I inhale, I need to do something.
During dinner, its unusually silent. I start pouring tea for everyone, once I'm done, I pour some for myself. There's more silence, I see Ming looking at me, knowing what I'm about to do. I slam my cup on the table, seeing Ming flinch, I feel bad but I keep going, "You shouldn't have to go!" Honestly, I dont want Ming to go either, but I know that my father has more of a chance of being let go. My mother looks at me in surprise, "Mulan!"
"There are plenty of young men like Ming to fight for China!" My father snarls, "It is an Honor to protect my family and my country. Also, I'm not letting Ming be alone out there!" That's when Ming speaks up, "Well, I really don't want to see you die either father." Our father doesnt get a chance to answer, "So you'll die for honor?" My dad looks over to me, face tightening, "I will die doing what's right." I was about to speak but Ming does, "But father-!" My father points at him
"You be quiet, you know why we need to do this." Our Mother glares at father. Ming putting his head down, father turns to me "I know my place! It's time you planned yours." I look at him with a look of betrayal and then run off. I hear Ming saying, "Excuse me." Then him getting up and walking to his room. I run outside, Crying holding onto a pillar.
I end up on the dragon statue we have in our yard, it's raining now. I look into the window of my parents room they seem to be fighting.
I then walk to the temple, lighting an incense and praying to the ancestors. I turn around and run to my parents room, taking my dads scroll, replacing it with my hair comb. I then run to Mings room, waking him up. "Ming, Ming. Wake up." He groans, "What Mulan? What's wrong?" He sits up, "Nothing. But I need your help."
We run to the room that has my fathers sword and armor. This room also has Ming's, so while I start making myself look more like a man, he gets into his armor. I cut my hair and put it in a bun. Then, I open the dresser that has my dads things, and I put them on. It's a little big on me, but not big enough for it to start falling down. I look over to Ming, He smiles. Im glad he's in on my plan.
We walk outside to our horses, Ming walks toward to where his is, and I walk to where mine is. I open the door of the barn, and My horse freaks out, not being able to recognize me. I calm him down by telling him it's just me. I bring my horse out, seeing Ming is already ready.
I look back to the house, get on my horse and we both start riding off to the camp.
(Mushus POV)
I get awaken by the great ancestor. I fall onto the ground, smoke all around me. "I live!" I say as I rise of the smoke, "So tell me what mortal needs my protection, great ancestor!" I look up at him, "You just say the word and I'm there."
"Mushu..." I don't let him continue, "And let me say somethin'. Anybody who's foolish enough to threaten our family, vengeance with be mine!" I start walking around growling, "Mushu!" I jump, "These are the family guardians." The great ancestor points to the statues on platforms way at the top of the temple, "They.." He waits for me to finish for him, "Protect the family." I sigh.
"And you, O demoted one?" He asks me, "I ring the gong." He floats down to me, "That's right. Now, wake up the ancestors." I let out a sad sigh, "One family reunion comin' right up." I pick up my gong. I turn around to start hitting the gong, "Okay, people, people, look alive. Let's go. Come on. Get up."
(Mulans POV)
We slow down when we get far enough from the farm. I sigh, "Oh my we just did that." Ming nods, "Yes we did, now we need to make sure you act like a man. I don't want you getting found out." I nod, "But how?"
