"Be honest with me."
Steve's voice broke through the comfortable silence, causing you to stop munching on the bagel you had gotten from next door.
"Um... okay." You swallow your food, sitting up straight.
"Why isn't my charm working?" He asked, continuing when you furrow your brows, "Like in high school, I could get any girl I wanted but here..."
He let out a frustrated sigh and you chuckled.
"Well... you know how women like a man in uniform?" You begin, raising your eyebrows.
"Yeah?"
"That excludes the ones that make you look like Donald Duck."
Steve just stares at you while you smile sweetly back at him, finishing your bagel.
"Why are we friends?" He asks, shaking his head.
"Because I have terrible taste, apparently." You retort, dodging Steve's leg that tried to kick you from under the table.
"Hey, dingus!" Robin's annoyed voice called out from the counter, "Your children are here!"
Steve rolled his eyes, walking over to the divider and snapping it open. "Again?"
Smiling to yourself, you grab something from your bag and walk out to the back of Scoops Ahoy, pushing through the white door to wait in the corridor. You could hear Steve's irritated voice clearly, his complaints practically bouncing off the walls as he swings the door open, watching as each party member files through.
He does a double take when he sees you stood there, looking behind him as if he might find your double still sat the table.
"How are you so stealthy?" He questions and you just shrug, looking to your sister as she strides toward you.
"You get the stuff?" Max asks and you hold out a paper bag to her. "Nice."
She gladly takes it, exchanging a fist bump and joining the others as they run towards the back door into the cinema.
You push off from the wall, finally looking back to Steve who held a dumbfounded look on his face.
"Are you a drug dealer now?" He interrogates, holding the door open for you as you re-enter the shop.
"What?" You laugh, "No. I got them candy for the movie."
"Of course you did." He rolls his eyes as you follow him to the counter, Robin raising her eyebrows, "See? This is why I can't enjoy a moment of peace."
"What's that supposed to mean?" You cross your arms, glaring at him.
"You-" He tries, unable to hold eye contact. "You keep giving them what they want!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry for being a good sister." Your voice drips sarcasm as you step closer to him, "Should I just call them shitheads and poof up my hair instead?"
"How dare you bring my hair into this."
Robin suddenly releases an incomprehensible yell from her mouth, shutting you both up.
"Jeez," She exhales, glancing between you both, "you act like an old married couple."
You're about to argue when the lights suddenly shut off, the whole mall plunging into darkness. You hadn't even realised how annoying the Scoops Ahoy jingle was until silence swept over the space.
Steve calmly walks over to the light switch, flicking it on and off while you and Robin exchange looks.
"That isn't gonna work, dingus." Robin says, leaning against the counter.
