Right Where You Left Me ( Thor x F!Reader)

Thor carved that moment deeply in his heart, the moment when Thanos got away from the Stormbreaker through a portal, when birds stopped singing, animals ceased running, and what had been left from Midgardians was nothing but dust.

The question he asked Thanos earlier remains unknown, Thor kept glancing, looking for that silhouette. He's a God, a powerful, mighty God, so if Thor found and held you right on time, you would stay with him, right?

You were at the Avengers Compound, Thor blocked you from joining this threatening war and in the end, the one who got away is you, the one he was meant to protect.

He flew to the compound with a belief that you're the lucky one, you're still here with him and waiting for him to come home

Once he was in, Thor felt his heart speed up, his pupils searching for his beloved, seeking for your warmth, your charming smile.

"Y/N?"

One time, no answer

Two times, no reply

Three-time, the compound where he visits you every weekend becomes dull and lifeless

Thor checked every single room and corner but he found nothing, it was like you have never been here before, it was like your existence is odd in this place.

But when Thor stepped into the kitchen, he saw dust and a shattered mug on the linoleum floor.

You're gone, and he is too late.

"No...No!" - Thor shouted as if he can deny this cruel reality

He desperately wanted to believe that this was someone's else dust, it's not yours and maybe you headed to the grocery store you took him to the previous month. Instantly, Thor went to that tiny Midgard store. The staff is gone, and customers disappeared in front of his blue eyes, but they were not you, not the dear Y/N he was looking for

"Y/N?" - He said

And when there was nowhere else for Thor to search, his melancholy grows as he starts to accept that you vanished, from Earth and from his arms.

In the next following days, Midgard turned into chaos after what Thanos has done, some were still in denial, and some mourned for those who disappeared. The King of Asgard did not sure what he feels, his heart full of anger and sorrow but yet no tears were dropped. However, every weekend Thor went to the compound, settled on a wooden four-legged chair, and awaited your return.

The Avengers thought Thor freezes whenever he sits there since he doesn't do anything, just silently staring at everyone's movements.

"It's late, Point Break, don't you wanna head back to your home?" - Tony asked

"I'm afraid I don't, what if Y/N return? I need to welcome her, say I miss her so" - Thor replied

"Thor, we lost and Thanos escaped, he took the stones with him, besides, we have no clue if those who vanished are dead or-" Rocket spoke up

"Enough" - Thor stood up abruptly, his voice sharp and harsh.

Thor went back to New Asgard, where his people are creating their new lives, in a slick moment, he wonders how did things end up this way

"Your Highness" - Valkyrie approached, said

"Valkyrie..."

She studies his expression, his blue eyes are wistful, as if you can see all his regret and sadness by just glancing at them

"Thor, I know things are hard, but you can't cling onto the past, you have to let her go"

"But what if she's out there, waiting for my help? What if she's not dead?"

"She's a strong fighter, her victories are a long list we cannot count, if she vanished and is somewhere out there, she can fight for her life, she learned that from you, Thor"

Thor marveled at the lake thoughtfully. He wants you back, he needs you back, but in the end, he knew that sitting on a chair and looking at the Avengers can't make you reappear, and he knew he can't see you go on with your days at the compound anymore.
