Xander has been avoiding me since he arrived at work. He keeps himself inside his office and has Margie hand me my task of the week. It doesn't take a genius to comprehend why he acts this way.
He must not have expected things to escalate that fast. We would have fucked hadn't the janitor interrupted us. After we managed to leave the room and scurried to the exit door, we agreed to call it a night. Xander let me take the first cab before he walked to the next one in the line. And that was how our evening ended.
If I can be honest, I didn't plan it like that either. It was supposed to be just a teasing game, to entice him, to make him want me even more. And when he finally gave in, it was going to be in his office, with my laptop's camera accidentally on; the grand plan. Apparently, I was too distracted. I partly blame the alcohol or my anger towards my dad, or maybe it was because I hadn't gotten laid for weeks. I don't know. I just wasn't thinking straight.
But who would have guessed Xander was going to snap like that? He's a guy with remarkable self-restraint I've known; it's not like he doesn't get regular sex with his trophy girlfriend. He could have just deserted me at the club, and gone home to dump his cum into his girlfriend. Yet he pinned me there against the wall and was so close to fucking me.
The scene keeps playing in my head and never fails to send a tightening sensation in my core. Shit. I'm enjoying this game a little too much. I need to be careful because he shouldn't affect me this way.
He's an enemy. Get him out of your head, Parker.
And as if the universe hears my struggle, the enemy is now standing at my office door, looking at me with a deep frown, so deep until his eyebrows make a straight line. He's not wearing his usual Monday suit, and from where I sit, I can spot a few crumples on his white shirt. Someone is having a rough day.
"Finally," I say, leaning back in my seat. "I thought you would avoid me until next year."
"Can we talk?" he asks, ignoring my remark. The office hour has ended, and Margie left fifteen minutes ago. Did he deliberately wait until there was no one else on this floor?
I shrugged. "Sure."
He turns around, probably checking if we're alone, before making his way to my desk and stops next to the seat across from me. Instead of sitting down, he stands still and slips his hands into his pockets. "I...about that night, I believe I owe you an apology. It shouldn't have happened." There is no trace of playfulness or Xander's infamous smirk on his face.
"That's okay. Things happen," I reply, refraining from eyeing him from head to toe. "I have to say, I enjoy that side of you."
"Parker..." He brushes his hair backward, his voice thick with frustration. "You're not making this easy for me at all. It's hard enough now to look you in the eye after what I did that night."
"What did you do?"
"Don't play a game now, Parker. I'm not in the mood."
I sigh audibly and get up from my chair. When Xander narrows his eyes as I walk in his direction, I bite back my laugh and carefully sit on my office table, making sure to keep a proper distance from him. He would run for his life if I pushed further.
"Look, Xander. Nothing happened that night. We almost lost control, I know, but we were under the influence, and we stopped before it went too far. So, we're cool."
"Nothing happened? We kissed, in case you forgot, and did...other stuff."
"How old are you? Five? It was just a kiss, and we were lowkey drunk. We can pretend it never happened."
