"Sooo you decided to start seeing each other again." "Uh-huh." "And now you're dating." "Uh- huh." "Since when?" "Officially since Chimon's birthday party." Jennie gasped in shock. "You haven't told me for four months?! I thought I was your best friend!" She objected, clearly hurt. Third lowered his head bashfully. "Sorry...only mom knows so far. I just wanted to be sure, you know? Besides if I told you earlier, you'd probably yell at me for rushing things." He grumbled. Jennie's pissed expression mellowed into some sort of understanding, because she knew Third was definitely right in that assumption. She bit her nail. "Have you slept together yet?" Third's eyes shifted. "He always sleeps in my room."

"You know that's not what I meant. Have you two fucked yet?" "Jennie!" Third clasped his hands over his son's ears, but the toddler didn't pay attention to what the adults said. He was too busy stacking rings into a pyramid and climbing them with a plush dinosaur before knocking them over and repeating the process. "So?" Jennie tapped her foot. "Have you?" Third felt his ears blush and even considered answering honestly, but before he had the chance to do so, the sliding backdoor opened and Khai entered the house, large bag in his arms. His bright smile dimmed when he noticed Jennie and the two exchanged a passive aggressive greeting before Khai left for the kitchen and unpacked the groceries. He returned shortly after, handing Chimon a banana biscuit and leaned closer to Third. He quickly looked at Jennie and back at Third who nodded. "It's fine, I told her already."

"Oh good." Khai smiled brightly again before cupping Third's cheek and giving him a gentle greeting kiss as always. Third couldn't help but blush as usually they didn't have any spectators besides Chimon, but now Jennie was staring daggers at them. She eyed Khai up and down, the question still burning on her tongue, but she knew better than to ask him directly. After all, Third was her best friend and they shared the most intimate secrets, so if anyone would tell her the truth, it should be him. "Well I guess I'm not needed here anymore today." Jennie scoffed when Khai put Chimon on his lap, letting him crumble the biscuit onto Khai's clean shirt. "No no, stay for lunch!" Third shook his head and dragged Jennie into the kitchen in the pretence of cooking. Of course he didn't trust her with a bigger task than just peeling onions, but the privacy was good for a little talk.

"Not yet." Third muttered, his hand skilfully chopping peppers into little cubes. "Huh?" "I said not yet. Answer to your previous question. We haven't...yet." Jennie gasped a little too loudly, causing Khai to ask 'is everything alright' from the living room. She dismissed him and returned her attention back to Third. "What? How is that possible? Four months is like five years in gay relationship." Third rolled his eyes. "It's not like it's easy, you know?" He finished peeling some carrots and gave them a rough chop before tossing them to the pot of water. "I mean, when I made a move on him, we got interrupted by my mom, and most of the days Chimon sleeps in the bed with us. I'm not traumatising my child this early in his life. And Khai hasn't made a move on me at all, so maybe he doesn't want to. He did once say as long as he's by my side the sex isn't important."

Jennie smacked Third on the back of his head so hard his glasses fell off. "Ow, what the hell?" The boy groaned, rubbing the sore spot. "So after one failed attempt you simply just give up? I thought you said the sex you had in university was mind blowing! What are you afraid of that makes you not want to try again?" Jennie poured herself a glass of wine, eyeing Khai who was sat on the floor with a book and reading to Chimon. Third shrugged. "Dunno. I'm a dad now, maybe he's not attracted to me anymore." Jennie gulped the entire glass down; this boy was so ridiculous! "You know, you're speaking like a mama who birthed three babies and is afraid her hubby will see her with stretch marks. You still look the same as in university, if not younger and hotter. I'm so glad I introduced you to makeup and skincare." She patted his cheek before turning to stir the stew that was bubbling on the stove.

"It's still too early!"

"It's not early! He's 18 months now!"

"Yeah, year and a half! It's early!"

"You stopped using pacifier when you were one year old!"

"Which made me suck my thumb until I was 14! Mom, just tell me where you hid the pacifier!"

"No way! Look, he doesn't even look for it now! Maybe he will start speaking more words now too."

"He already speaks more than I did when I was five!"

Khai stood there shocked as his boyfriend and his boyfriend's mother argued, eyes following the conversation as if it was ping pong match. They didn't shout but hissed at each other angrily for the past half an hour, and he with the little boy in his arms curiously watched the situation. He was really glad neither one of them asked for his opinion on the matter, because being caught in the middle of an argument of two people would be a disaster, especially since his thoughts seemed to side with Third's mom. Chimon rarely used the pacifier anyway, he would often just spit it out or hide it in his toys than actually suck on it.

"Let's play with the block, Mon Mon." Khai whispered to the child and sat down on the floor, picking up colourful cubes and handing them to Chimon. He couldn't help smiling; these past few months have been a bliss, spending time with little Chimon and Third like a family. He loved visiting them, he loved their little trips outside, he even loved being helpful around the house. When Chimon got an unexplainably high fever once, Khai dropped everything at work and rushed to take them to a hospital, never leaving their side. Even when he had to work extra hours at his job, he made sure every free minute he spent with Third and Chimon. It was wonderful.

"Here, a blue one. B-l-u-e, blue." Khai smiled, handing the cube to Chimon. "Boo." Chimon giggled, stacking the cube atop of a green. "What about this? This is yellow, Mon. Yel-low." Khai held up another cube, slightly out of reach of Chimon's chubby little arms. "Wewow Papii! Wewow!" Chimon reached out, grunting when he couldn't take the cube. And he lunged forward. "Oh my god!" Khai gasped. His little yelp alerted the two arguing beside them and they both had the equally shocked response when they saw the little human wobbling around on his shaky legs, taking one step at a time. Chimon giggled, waddling towards Khai with outstretched arms and finally seizing the yellow block before toppling over onto Khai's chest. "Third..." His mother poked him. Third shook his head. "Forget the pacifier; my baby is all grown up! Khai, why are you crying?"

------------------------------------------------------

Third hummed in satisfaction when the last box was finally empty and he tossed he discarded cardboard behind their front door where already stood a towering pile of cardboard boxes taller than him. He wasn't surprised how long the move took them; despite Khai having only a few things, Third had a lot, and Chimon had even more. All the baby stuff, the clothes, the toys, the bed. This was a step in the right direction, he could feel it ever since the day Chimon walked for the first time and Khai cried. Third knew he loved this man again, with his entire heart.

"Can I go look now?" Third called through their living room. It was Two who poked his head out of the nursery room and grinned. "Just a second, we're almost finished." He smacked the door shut again, leaving Third slightly annoyed. Not only did his mom take Chimon for three days just to enjoy him a little bit before he moved, but now Khai invited their friends to come and decorate Chimon's room, excluding Third. Khai said he wanted to surprise him, and boy did he. When Two, Khai, Bone and Un finally left the room, Third was already impatiently tapping his foot, arms crossed on his chest and a very huffy expression on his face, which instantly mellowed as he took a step inside.

"Ta-daah!" Khai sang and proudly gestured towards the door. Third's face lit up when he saw the beautiful décor. The walls were painted a soft shade of mint green with blue and yellow outline of a tree branch, butterfly and bird stickers sporadically placed over the branches. The bed with railing was shoved in the corner, there was a little play tent with pillows on the floor, a closet with all Chimon's clothes, a little table with crayons and papers, a big hamper filled with plush animals, and just above Chimon's bed was a framed photograph. Khai, Third, and Chimon, hugging, with the word 'Family' carved at the top. It was the most priced possession that Chimon took with him to his college dorm many years later.
