Hey my li'l embers, I wanted to warn you all that the story is going to get rather tense after chapter 11, so just be prepared for the chapters to come.
Onto the chapter!
~~~HTLANF~~~
After Luna left, Kala and I weren't able to get any sleep. Her offer to take us to the Hidden World nagging at our minds the rest of the night.
Kala rolled over to face me on our makeshift bed after half an hour had passed. "Do you just wanna go for a walk or something..? It's obvious neither of us will be able to sleep.."
"Yeah..no point in lying awake all night.." I agreed as I got up, helping her to her feet not a second later.
We took some time to get dressed properly then left our hut to go for a walk around the island. But as we made our way through the temporary village, we noticed things that weren't finished or needed to be fixed and before we knew it the sun was making its way through the sky as Kala and I were finishing up with setting up Gobber's temporary forge.
I looked around with my hands on my hips to make sure there wasn't anything missing and nodded in approval.
"Okay, I think the forge is done. For a temporary setup that is." I said as Kala was making her way back over to my side.
"Yeah. Hopefully we won't have to pack all of this away anytime soon, though. But time will tell." She said as she blew some of her bangs out of her face.
I smiled and tucked it behind her ear for her, making a mental note to myself to redo the braids in her hair as I noticed some were starting to fall out of the leather bands.
"We will indeed. Come on, we should get something to eat." I urged as I took her hand and went to leave to find some breakfast, but she tugged on my hand.
"Um..could we actually talk about Luna's offer? It's obvious that it's been nagging at the both of us or else we wouldn't have stayed up all night. I think we should take her up on it. Why wait?"
"No, absolutely not. You're almost ten weeks along. I am not risking you and our child in some unknown place that we don't even know is actually real." I said with my arms crossed.
"And we won't know unless we take her up on that offer. Isn't the Hidden World the whole point we came all the way out here? Luna just gave us the perfect opening for finding it Hiccup. And you don't want to take it?" She asked with her hands on her hips.
"Because I don't want to lose you two! Who knows what dangers lurk within that place! It's filled to the brim with wild dragons Kala! What if I'm not able to protect you?"
Kala sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "No, you're right. We don't know what dangers it holds and there are most definitely hundreds upon thousands of wild dragons that reside there. If you're so worried about not being able to protect me, why don't you go there and I stay here? I could continue helping with setting up things while Luna takes you to the Hidden World."
"Kala, I am not going to go to the Hidden World without you. We've been searching for it together and we're going to find it together. We can wait. As long as we stay ahead of Grimmel and stay off the radar, we have all the time in the world to look for it." I reasoned.
"But we don't have all the time in the world Hiccup. That's the point. Grimmel is probably tracking us down as we speak. There's not enough time to wait this out." Kala said with her arms crossed.
I sighed heavily as I ran a hand down my face. "Okay, fine. I'll go to the Hidden World. But! You have to promise me that you'll stay on the island while I'm gone. Especially if the others end up having to go after Grimmel. Got it?"
"I promise I'll stay out of harm's way. I'll stay here and help around the island." She promised with a soft smile.
I smiled a bit and kissed her forehead. "Thank you. I'll be back soon. Just don't do anything too draining, okay?"
Kala stifled a laugh. "Okay, okay. Get going."
She then playfully pushed me and I chuckled slightly then transformed into my dragon form. But as I was about to take flight, something hit me.
'No. This feels wrong. She deserves to go see the Hidden World more than I do. I can't just up and leave without her.'
I huffed and turned around, nudging Kala towards my back.
"Whoa! I thought you said I was to stay here mister?" Kala asked in a teasing manner.
I rolled my eyes and continued to nudge her towards the saddle. "Changed my mind. It felt wrong. You deserve to see the Hidden World more than I do."
Kala smiled and mounted my back, scratching my head once she was secured. "Thank you."
"But there's going to be some rules. If at any point I feel we're in danger, or you start to feel sick, we're turning around and coming straight back to the island." I said as I took to the sky.
Kala giggled and nuzzled my head. "Deal."
A few minutes into our search for Luna, I laid back in the saddle and watched clouds pass us by as I absentmindedly rubbed my stomach. My attention was then broken as I felt Hiccup speed up and I sat up and gripped the saddle with one hand, resting my other on his head.
"Hiccup? What is it?" I asked, becoming worried.
He ignored me, his earplates moving as though he had heard something. I looked around us, trying to see if there were any other dragons that somehow followed us or not, but it was just the two of us.
'What is going on?'
Hiccup then flew closer to the ocean, his body acting on its own as if he were being lured somewhere by some type of pull or call of sorts.
After a minute or so, I noticed water spray above the ocean and my grip on the saddle tightened slightly. As we got closer, Hiccup seemed to break out of the trance and our eyes widened when we saw Luna pop up from where the water spray was coming from.
Luna smiled as she flew over to us and hovered a few feet in front of us. "I did not expect you to take me up on the offer so quickly. Glad to see you found the Hidden World so easily. But that is to be expected with how close your temporary island is to the entrance."
"Wait.." I breathed out, not believing what I just heard.
"You mean to tell us we're only a few minutes away from the Hidden World?" Hiccup asked.
"Why yes. What do you think is behind me? An illusion? Or a waterfall? Come. See for yourself." Luna said, then she turned around and went back to where she came.
Hiccup and I locked eyes in confusion, then followed after her, our eyes widening in shock as we saw a huge waterfall.
"A great waterfall–" Hiccup said, too shocked to finish his sentence.
"At the end of the world." I added as we looked at each other, then at Luna who was a couple feet away from us.
"You see? You were drawn to it, yes?" She asked.
Hiccup nodded, but was still rather shocked. "Yeah, I was. I didn't really know what it was at first, but I just knew I had to follow it. It felt strange."
"So that's what was going on.." I whispered, which earned a giggle from the Light Fury.
"You did not feel the pull, did you Kala?"
I shook my head. "No, I didn't. But it's probably because I'm in human form."
"It is a possibility." Luna said. "Come. I will show you around."
She then dived into the waterfall and disappeared from sight. Hiccup looked at me with a silent question in his draconic eyes and I smiled with a nod as I lay close to the saddle with a firm grip on the handles. He nodded then followed Luna through the waterfall.
