It was 8 AM in the morning, and Alfred NEEDED coffee. It was his life source. His replacement for water.
As usual, the personification of America had gotten barely any sleep. There was a lot going on in the world, and it sure kept him busy. At least he slept for an hour or a few, though.
Since his alarm went off too early in the morning, Alfred made it to the meeting room a bit too early. Nobody else was there. So he went for the coffee machine...
Oh the horrors.
In front of the sandy blonde tired American was a coffee machine with a big OUT OF ORDER sign. And the machine did look broken.Quickly shaking it off (shake it off lol), Alfred knew what he had to do.
He quickly grabbed his bags and ran to his car, driving to the nearest coffee shop he could find, and went through their drive through line."Um, hi, could I please have 5 cups of coffee?"
After getting his coffee, he (magically) put some of the cups in his bag for later, knowing he could warm them up again.
Taking a sip of the coffee, a burst of energy came over the tired American. He started driving back to the meeting room, and noticed it was 8:40. Pretty good time.
Holding his cup of coffee, he opened the large wooden doors where the meetings were usually held. There was some light chatter audible, from hushed conversations of countries that came early. Not a lot, though.
"Good morning!" Alfred had his signature Hollywood smile as he strolled into the room with his coffee, sitting at the seat marked for him.
"Early for once, lad?" Arthur (United Kingdom/Great Britain) looked at his former colony with a joking smile.
"Maybe." Alfred sarcastically replied, rolling his eyes as he put his stuff down.
Ludwig (Germany) was shuffling through his notes for what to say for the meeting, but otherwise, it was pretty quiet. After all... who'd come 20 minutes early?
"When do they plan on fixing the coffee machine, Ludwig?" Alfred asked, praying that the German would say something that was in the timeframe of the next second.
"Um... I'm not sure. Probably next week." Ludwig replied, setting his papers down.
"NEXT WEEK?!" Alfred almost dropped his cup of coffee and stared at the German with a look that was a mixture of shock and pleasehelpmeansgetthatmachinefixedsooner.
"I'm sure you can go a week without coffee, there's replacements that are way better. Tea, for example." Arthur said.
"Psh. Yeah. Tea is a good replacement for something you want to throw into an harbor." Alfred snickered.
"YOU BLOODY-" Arthur started.
"Do you guys ever have a single moment of peace?" Ludwig asked, clearly annoyed.
"Probably not." Alfred replied casually, reaching out for his coffee.
Arthur was about to say something when the door opened to reveal a happy looking Frenchman and a sleepy Canadian.
"Bonjour!" Francis (France) happily strolled over to his seat near Arthur.
"Morning." Matthew (Canada) mumbled as he took a seat near Alfred.
"Good morning." Alfred said, realizing it had been a few minutes since he last took a sip of coffee.
"Alfred, you okay? It looks like you really haven't been sleeping." Matthew took note of his younger brother's dark under-eye circles and droopy eyelids.
"Ehh, I'm doing fine!" Alfred smiled back, reaching for his coffee once again, only for it to be missing.
"Oo!" Francis was taking a sip of the coffee.
"FRANCIS!" Alfred yelled.
"Oui, sorry! This coffee is good, where did you get it from?" Francis apologetically handed back the cup.
"There was a place down the street." Alfred's tone was getting more and more aggravated the longer he was being kept away from his beloved coffee,
"How much coffee do you drink in a day?" Arthur asked, looking at the American dead in the eye.
"Um... I don't know. I don't really keep track." Alfred admitted.
"Be more specific."
"Um... probably 4-6 cups...?" Alfred nervously chuckled.
They stared at him in disbelief. Even Ludwig on the other end of the table looked at him with a sort of concerned look.
"Why are you guys looking at me like that?!" Alfred smiled even more nervously.
"That's an unhealthy amount of coffee!" Francis blurted out.
"VERY unhealthy..." Arthur looked at Alfred with concern.
Francis was quick to act, and quickly threw the almost full cup of coffee in the trash.
"MY LOVELY COFFEE!" Alfred yelled with terror and shock written all over his face.
Francis turned to face Alfred. "Now, now! We shall learn about not drinking an unhealthy amount of caffeine!"
Alfred suddenly felt the energy burst of the coffee drain from him, and it was replaced with a rather dark aura.
"You mess with my coffee, you mess with me!" Alfred yelled, running towards the unsuspecting Frenchman.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Was all Francis could say before he started running.
Basically... it was a beautiful game of tag.
Just simply, never question how much coffee Alfred drinks.
