DECEMBER 31st

Peter had been invited to Deans New Year's gathering. He was incredibly nervous. Deans whole family was probably there. It had been a while since Peter had even socialized like that. Being isolated for so long almost made him forget how to start a conversation.

Peter stood outside the Umeki house. He brought his shaking hand up to the doorbell. Hesitantly, he rang the doorbell, then stuffed his cold hands back into his pockets. Peter waited there for a couple of seconds. He looked at the door nervously.

Had they heard him?

"Just one more time..." Peter brought his hand up, but quickly put it back down once he heard the door rattle.

The door opened to show the face of a middle aged man wearing glasses. "Oh." He smiled showing his perfect teeth. "You must be Deans friend."

It was Deans stepfather, Morgan. Peter could tell because he looked nothing like Dean. He was a skinny, white, brunette haired man.

"Yeah- yes." Peter smiled. "I'm Peter."

"Oh, I know. Dean can't stop talking about you." Morgan opened the door wider. "Come on in, son."

"Thank you." Peter walked into the house. He was met with a stair case to his side. The walls were a warm color. There was a colorful christmas tree in the corner. The house was all festive with lights and decorations.

There was a good amount of people around. Deans mother's side of the family was present. They talked over music. Some were helping out in the kitchen, and others were in the living room.

"Dean, your friends here!" His stepfather yelled and Dean replied with a yell. "Coming!"

"Are you thirsty, son?" Morgan asked. Peter declined the offer thankfully.

Dean appeared as he made his way down the stairs. He greeted Peter with a smile. "Hey, man."

"Hey." Peter smiled the same.

Morgan smiled at them both. He really loved Dean. He loved him as if he were his real son. Dean loved Morgan a lot too, even though it was harder for him to show it.

Deans real father died at a young age. Dean was only seven when it happened.

Deans mother met Morgan three years later. They got married within the same year the snap happened.

It was hard for Dean to accept that he was stuck with only Morgan. But in the years of the snap, they had grown close. Dean realized that Morgan wasn't what he thought he was.

"Alright, lemme introduce you to my brother." Dean walked and Peter followed.

They approached a group of kids playing with a soccer ball. They were in the dining area, passing the ball from under the table.

"Mikey, Mikey." Dean called out. His little brother turned around to face the callout, revealing his foggy eyes. "What?" He asked.

"I have a friend I want to introduce you to." Dean told him. "Michael, this is Peter, my friend."

"Hey." Deans little brother smiled. Peter did the same. "Hey, man." He put his hand out, but then immediately pulled it away in embarrassment.

Dean just laughed a little. "He just tried to shake your hand."

Michael laughed too. "Here." He put his hand out and Peter chuckled shaking it. "Sorry."

"It's okay." Michael said with a smile.

"Alright, we'll catch you later." Dean messed up his little brothers hair. He  laughed a little. "Okay."

Peter just followed Dean around the house. "You two seem close."
