The drive was long with music blasting with a timed vibration when the bass hit. We were vibing to thunder. Our skeptic mindset about being on the wrong road disappeared when the city came to view.
"Hi is Nathan here?" I asked the dorm caretaker.
"We don't have any Nathans," he cut me off rudely.
"He studies medical sciences in this university and I have visited his room in this dorm before," I pushed on.
"Miss this is the Management student's dorm. The Science stream dorm is on the other side of the road," he sighed.
"But-"
"Okayy we got it. Thank you for NOT wasting your time to help us out," Teesha said loudly before pushing me out of the dorm entrance.
"I clearly remember this was the building he brought me to. I even kept a small cactus plant in his room. The dorm keeper is like 80 years old so forget remembering Nathan, he probably doesn't remember his wife's name," I blabbered.
"Girl, get your mind straight. He cannot be here. This is the Business stream dorm," Teesha said and pointed at a notice board close by indicating the time table of Management exams.
Alright, I admit defeat.
We entered a nearby café and bought ourselves some iced coffee.
"Miss if you buy three coffees we give you a free gift," the cashier said.
I didn't even look at Teesha as she said, "Did you say free?"
"I'm pretty sure the free gift costs less than the coffee itself... and what are we supposed to do with the extra coffee?" I asked, taking the awfully familiar looking box from Teesha's hands.
"I'm exhausted. I can use that extra coffee anyway," she replied.
The afternoon warmth added to our tiredness so we took a seat at a park bench, with the view of the dorm in sight.
I opened the box and inside it there laid...
"Isn't that... the key tag Nathan gave you?"
Way to rub it in Teesha.
"That fucking-" she started but I shut the lid harshly. A moment of silence followed.
"Thank you by the way," I began again.
"You're welcome," she said and I looked at her with a squinted eye.
"Bitch you didn't even ask what for?"
"Even I'd be thankful to have a sexy bestie like myself," she proudly said.
.....
"What?" she asked.
"Exactly. Thank you for being by my side sexy bestie"
We both shared a smile.
I took a sip from my coffee when she said, "Nora...You know how I was wishing Nathan to show up?"
"Mhmm?"
"Well now I unwish that wish," she scratched the side of her cup.
"Why?"
She pointed at something and when I looked, it was Nathan and I was not ready for the mix of emotions I was going to feel.
Elliana and Jess were by his side and the next moment he leaned in before giving both of them a kiss each. So it was them who sent that video to Nathan! And all the times I told him about how badly they treated me in school? I guess he just threw it to the gutter.
They waved at him before going into the Commerce dorm.
"Oh shit," I heard Teesha mumbled before I stormed off.
But this time I didn't run away.
"Stop running away Nora," I mumbled simultaneously with Alex's voice in my head.
A sudden rain fell.
Only on Nathan though. And it was my coffee that rained on him.
"What the fuck!" he turned around and his eyes widen.
The next second another splash of coffee soaked him to the bone. Teesha had walked to my side and thrown her extra cup of coffee at him too.
"Nora!"
"How DARE you! You fucking broke ass sick imbecile! You are nothing but a golddigging worthless boring cheapskate. The 3 hours we spend on dates once a month? I would have rather spent that time plucking grass from my yard!"
"But you-"
"I WHAT?! Cheated on you?! Honestly I wish I had done it more!" I spat out, "Also... you can keep this to give to your next chosen unfortunate girlfriend! And one more thing," I smiled before taking a stance and kicking him right on his slongabonga, "Alex's is bigger than yours."
I spun on my heel and pulled the shocked Teesha along with me.
"HAHAHA I CAN'T! DID YOU SEE HIS FACE- NO WAIT! You should have seen YOUR face! It was steaming with rage!" Teesha laughed like a maniac while driving.
"Just keep your eyes on the road..." I covered my face with a hand and spoke.
"Now that was one good roast. I'm proud of you girl," she patted my back and I let out an uncontainable smile. Yea... I'm proud of myself too.
It was '10 things I hate about you' that we vibed to next, singing the song on top of our lungs with the windows rolled down. That felt good.
*ring ring*
"Hey Reiko!" I answered. Finally got to know what happened in my life eh?
"Nora?! You gotto ---- here! He's dr ---- saying ---- talk ---- you! You know his anger issues when... well, when he gets angry!"
I am confused unga bunga. Sounds like Reiko's in a club and his voice can't be heard over the loud music.
"WHAT?! I DIDN'T HEAR SHIT YOU SAID!" I shouted back. I saw Teesha cringing from the corner of my vision.
*Beep beep beep*
The line cut off and a text followed immediately.
"Come here ASAP! Bring Teesha if you can! Alex and her boyfriend are fighting. P.S they are kinda drunk too. *attached location*"
