LOCATION: KITTY FORMAN'S KITCHEN
rhia was sitting with her grandfather as she watched her grandmother ranting about how she loved having the house full again. just as the conversation was wrapping up, leia walked through the door.
"what the hell is that thing in your nose?" leia's dad asked as she quickly passed him as leia turned back around looking somewhat annoyed.
"uh, a nose ring?" leia responded back, crossing her arms over her chest.
"your move." the two girls grandfather said as he looked up from his newspaper. rhia sat and watched the interaction with a small smile on her face.
"how did this happen?" he gestures towards leia's face with an exasperated expression on his face.
"gwen gave it to me. she even gave rhia one, just a while ago." leia responded like it's not a big deal, which it isn't in both of the girls' minds.
"oh okay gwen did it. first, who the hell is gwen? and second, why is she poking holes in your perfect face?" leia's dad asks her placing his hands on his hips.
"she lives next door, which is where me and rhia are going right now." leia states as she starts to back up towards the back door while rhia stands up from her seat.
"well are her parents home?" her dad asks, still trying to find a way to not have his daughter leave.
"no, but her older brother is." leia responds in a matter-of-fact way.
"her older brother is a total idiot. he doesn't have any sense of responsibility." rhia quickly says, saving her cousin from their grandmother telling her almost the same thing.
"i'm gonna be 20 feet away. grandma and grandpa are letting rhia go." leia says in an attempt to convince her dad to let her go.
"to be fair, grandma and grandpa have known gwen for two years." rhia defends her guardian's decision, even if it's against their better judgment.
leia's dad thinks for a few moments before sighing. "okay fine. but be home before fireworks, both of you." he says and he points better both of them.
after watching leia's dad nerd out again, the pair found themselves in gwen's basement playing uno with both gwen and ozzie.
"uno." ozzie says as he sets down two cards, not caring about the actual rules of the game.
"uh i think you're only supposed to put down one card." leia said to ozzie before rhia or gwen could stop her.
"excuse me?" ozzie asked accusingly as he turned his head towards her. leia immediately backs off and continues to play the game and look around the basement.
"cools basement." she said to gwen after a few moments of just looking around.
"it's a dump, no offense." ozzie said somewhat quick just as gwen was nodding, agreeing with leia. gwen and ozzie then proceeded to tell leia how the two met. just as their were finishing the story, the four teenagers heard loud footsteps coming down the stairs.
"you are so not gonna believe what just happened!it's probably the best things ever!" nate says loudly, followed by two people that leia did not recognize. rhia though, had known both for a considerable amount of time.
"that's what you said when the mcrib came back." the girl next to nate said as the other boy made his way over to the couch and pulled a chair up in between the two cousins.
"hey, new girl." the boy, known as jay to the rest of the group, said slyly towards leia. the girl turned her head looking somewhat surprised and nervous.
"hey, new boy... man? i don't know how the whole puberty thing is going for you, probably great though!" leia responded awkwardly.
"leia, this is jay. keep all your zippers and buttons in their locked and upright positions." rhia said just to annoy the boy, turning her head towards him with a small smirk on her face.
"hey i was just introducing myself, you know, making some get to know you chit chat. i can only assume this is the cousin you were talking about ri?" jay said to the girl, watching her face fade into annoyance at the small nickname he'd given her.
"yes she is. and don't even think about it." this pointed an accusatory finger at the boy.
jay rolled his eyes slightly before turning back to leia.
"so, are you spiritual? cause i am." he slyly said again to leia as the rest of the group, especially rhia, made a face of disgust.
"you're all making a face, but that would've worked on me." ozzie said calmly before turning back to the game of uno him and gwen had been playing alone for the past couple minutes.
