LOCATION: GWEN RUNCK'S BASEMENT

"can i tell my awesome story now?" nate asked after ozzie had made the remark about jay. the whole group turned towards him, signaling him to start talking.

after a couple minutes, the group was watching jay and nate going back and forth saying the word 'bro'.

"they were like this the whole ride here." nikki said in an extremely pained voice. nate turned towards her and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"come on babe. it a fourth of july miracle! just with beer!" he exclaimed as jay placed the keg they had gotten down.

"why are we still talking? let's get that keg tapped and get stupid!" gwen said as she stood up.

the rest of the group agreed, minus leia, before someone spoke up.

"we don't have a tap guys." rhia said from her seat in a moment of realization.

"and without a tap, the beer is... trapped." nate said in a somewhat disappointed manner. nicki immediately places her hands on his shoulders.

"would a kiss make it better?" she asked in an optimistic way. nate turned towards her with a disappointed look on his face.

"not unless you have a mouth full of beer... do you?" he then asked with an excited tone of voice.

"no, i don't." nicki said, feeling like her boyfriend was a complete idiot.

"kids versus beer. it's a tale as old as time." ozzie said nonchalantly as he sat and watched nate trying to open the keg with a hammer. "it happened to our parents and our parents parents."

"and the kids on the mayflower." rhia added from her spot next to ozzie.

"can you two stop talking? i'm trying to think." nate exclaimed as he paused his actions.

"we know. everyone in the basement can smell it." rhia said calmly as nate sat down in a chair.

"why don't we just go back to mama's and buy a tap? wouldn't that be easier?" leia asked, seeming like she had found the solution.

"we've all tried to buy from her, but she's tough." gwen responded while deep in thought.

"i even hit her with the "hey, girl" and still got nothing." jay followed gwen's response and rhia scrunched up her nose.

"you're disgusting." she said, moving more towards ozzie when he sat down next to her.

"what if we get a laser?" nate suddenly exclaimed looking excited. nikki immediately shook her head.

"we're not getting a laser." she said, making nate sink back into his seat disappointedly.

"i guess that's it then. we've tried everything." he said in a sad tone.

"you said one idea and it was stupid." gwen exclaimed as nate sat back up.

"you're stupid! you're all stupid and you hate america and you hate beer!" he almost yelled as he stood up. nikki was quick to calm him back down, and once he was sitting back down, gwen spoke up.

"leia, how about you buy the tap? mama doesn't know you." she said as jay perked up.

"oh yeah, you totally could. plus your eyes are crazy pretty, which won't help buy the tap, but it's just something i noticed." he said just as rhia flicked the back of his head after he finished.

once they group had come up with a plan, gwen and ozzie went upstairs to help get leia ready. nikki and nate were doing their own thing, which left rhia and jay on opposite sides of the couch together.

"so your cousin's pretty cool. she seems like a lot of fun." jay said after a couple minutes of complete silence between the two. rhia looked over at him.

"yeah she is really cool. thanks for noticing. and stop trying to make passes at her, it's gross." she said before turning back away. jay sighed a bit.

"i'm only trying to be nice. i wouldn't actually try to do anything with her." he said without completely realizing what he had said. rhia looked back over at him.

"why wouldn't you try? i thought you would be all over that kind of thing." she said, letting her preconceived notions of him take over what came out of her mouth. jay furrowed his eyebrows a bit.

"well, i'm not really into girls like her. my type is totally different." he said calmly while a bit of color rose to his cheeks.

"hm, okay. i'd love to hear what it actually is sometime." rhia smiles just a bit, happy to hear that he wasn't going to try going after her cousin at all.

just as the conversation finished, gwen came down the stairs.

"cmon you guys, leia's ready to go." she said as the four who were downstairs followed her up.
