When Dakota Kumar thought about his life, all he could think about was grief. He's been grieving for the past year and a half, and he was getting nowhere. He wanted to move on, he really, really did, but nothing he did ever seemed to work.
The loss of Leo Kumar hit him harder than anything ever had. He was Dakota's dad, after all.
He's been to counseling, he's talked everything through with his mom, and he even tried to talk to his father's grave in an attempt to let the man go from his life.
Nothing.
The pain stayed with him, and he wasn't sure if it would ever go away. Dakota knew that the void he had would always be with him, he knew losing a parent could never really be gotten over, but he did know that moving on was something he needed to do. Yet, he wasn't even close.
A knock on his door snapped Dakota out of his thoughts. The teenager shut his notebook, which he had barely written anything in, and turned towards his bedroom door.
"Yeah?"
"It's Sebastien. Can I come in?"
Dakota smiled softly, turning his desk chair fully to face his door. "Sure, Bass."
The door opens and a bush of curly blonde hair pokes his head in before walking in entirely. "Just wanted to say bye before I go to Mike's. Think we're having pizza, so.. Want me to bring you a piece home?"
The Kumar boy shook his head. "Nah, Mom's cooking tonight."
Sebastien's eyes lit up. "Really? What's she making?"
