POV: Bruce
I walk over to the phone on the wall, still shaky from seeing Vance, all I wanted to do was break down and cry, I hate seeing him in pain. I type in a familiar phone number and bring the black phone (see what I did there) up to my ear. The sound of the phone ringing is annoying and anxiety educing, lucky for me the line is picked up quickly. "Hello?" Robin says, I can here him yawn, he didn't sleep last night and he probably hasn't slept today either. "Hi" I simply respond. "Bruce? What are you doing?" He asks, I never ring to talk to Robin, ever. There's nothing wrong with him but he always leaves me to go hang out with Finney, I cant really blame him, he loves Finney. "I found Vance." I say blankly, I can basically see the fear mixed with happiness in his eyes, despite not being in the same room as him. "Is he ok? Where are you? Is he angry? Are you ok?" He questions, I get lost in his concern, rolling my eyes I respond, "he's not doing so well he's going though something called withdrawal" Concern creeps into my voice and I feel tears picking at my eyes, "what's that?" Robin says. "Its when you stop drinking or doing drugs after doing them everyday for a little while, your body doesn't know how to react, it hurts like a bitch my mum says. I'm scared, he can barely keep his eyes open, and he's shaking ruthlessly constantly. Can you come over? I'm at my house." The phone hangs up and I stand there for a second. Not daring to look towards Vance.
Robin and Finney arrive at my house not even five minutes later, puffing and panting with dark circles under there brown eyes. They don't say anything while I walk them towards the lounge room. Vance has changed positions, he's now sitting on the floor with his knees to his chest and his arms wrapped around his legs, his head is resting on his knees and the strange boy behind him is brushing his hair. Vance is still shaking.
"Wow.." Robin murmurs, When I look back Finney is squeezing Robin's hand, they cant take their eyes off Vance, tears pick at their brown orbs and that's when I grab their shoulders and slowly push them up to my room. They don't fight me.
I don't bother closing the door behind us, everyone's two busy doing their own thing. My mum and dad went to my aunts to get Amy and the strange man downstairs is dealing with Vance. Speaking of Amy, I don't want her to see this, she'll never look at Vance the same again, she wont know what's happened because she's only ten but she looks up to Vance, she likes how strong he is, she's probably jumping around right now, begging our parents to help her with her suitcase so she can come home faster.
Everyone is silent, just sitting on my bed, or for my case at my desk, we all just stare at our hands. "What.. Why's he shaking so much, he looks so, so vulnerable" Robin sounds shocked that he could say something like that about Vance. "He'll be like that for a couple days" a voice says, we all look up and stare at the man in my doorway. He put a cigarette between his lips and the lit it, the smoke flowing slowly to the ceiling reminded me of Vance, he was always smoking, whether it be just a cigarette or weed, some type of stick was always in between his lips. He leaned forward to me and put his hand out in front of me, a big smile appeared on his face and I couldn't help that it made me feel happy, "I'm Robbie, you?" He says, his voice is slightly rough from years of smoking, he looked pretty young so I'm not surprised he's friends with Vance. "Bruce.." I respond shaking his hand, I couldn't stop looking at him, he wore baggy clothes and his hair was brown and shaggy, not to long and not to short, his lips are big and his teeth are white, looking at him would bring anyone's mood up, I look over at Robin and Finney and see he gave them the same feeling he gave me. "So what, you Vance's friends or something?" He asked, "best friends" Robin butted in, Robbie looked away from me and turned towards Robin, smiling at him, he took a puff of his cigarette and walked back till he leaned loosely on my bedroom wall. "I'm Robin this is Finney" Robbie smiled, pulling the cigarette away from his lips to slightly wave at Finney, who hadn't talked yet.
