4. Office war - Part one'Why me? Why am I even here? Why do I have to endure this pain?'
Life is so unfair.
Mondays are unfair.
The weather is so unfair.
Actually, everything is unfair. That is, if you ask a particular little Officer and if he could, he would throw himself on the ground and scream out his frustration.
Because life already began fucking with him directly after returning home from their interrupted honeymoon.
And no, for once, we are not talking about Xiao Zhan. (But I guess he would have liked that.)
And honestly, Wang Yi Bo needed a lot of mental strength to deal with the sulking Agent when they had to go home. The Officer really was looking forward to escaping the hot weather and the killing sunrays, tormenting him the moment he stepped out of the aeroplane that brought them to their holiday island.
But did the gods of weather have pity on him? Of course not! Wang Yi Bo was sure that they were laughing seeing his misery.
Now, at the beginning of June, the early first harbingers of another probably unbearable, scorching, hot summer started to show up in the city of Beijing.
And Officer Wang Yi Bo really hated hot summers in cities, especially after his recent experience of an overdose of UV radiation.
Sitting on the driver's seat, he rubbed his sweaty forehead and let his fingers drum over the somehow sticky feeling steering wheel of his car. His mood was not the best, I should add. If there's something he won't miss from their interrupted honeymoon, it would be the heat and the sun.
It didn't help that the air in his car felt stuffy, even though he had turned the air conditioning on "arctic freeze". But what came out of the fan somehow felt more like a sauna infusion.
Seems nothing's going to work the way he wanted today…(correct, and it will only get "better"). But what did he even expect from a Monday morning?
He secretly glanced to his side where Xiao Zhan was and instantly got angry. He didn't know if he should admire or deeply envy him. His husband was dressed in a short-sleeved, form-fitting black shirt, with the top button opened and his signature shades loose on his nose. His hair was leisurely styled - he looked simply effortlessly sexy. (He's the hottest man alive, so what do you think?)
Since he wasn't an official police officer but a… let's call it permanently "rented" Special Agent, Xiao Zhan wasn't obliged to wear a uniform. UNFAIR!
On top of that, the heat didn't seem to bother him a bit, unlike our little Officer, who started sweating by just looking at the temperature scale.
Bastard. Unfair! UNFAIR!
But as a former inhabitant of planet Hell, it was only natural that he must be used to more infernal temperatures like this. So what felt for Wang Yi Bo like the furnace of hell must be a mild breeze for Xiao Zhan….
If only….
"Green."
"What?!"
Wang Yi Bo flinched strongly as he was pulled out of his mondayly-internal-endless-complaining-trance-like state. He bewilderedly turned his face to the undoubtedly gorgeous, knowingly smiling man who sat relaxed and handsomely in the passenger seat.
That sight alone dropped his mood barometer down a few more levels.
"It's green, baby. You might want to continue driving. The people behind you are honking a little impatiently. Although I am quite enjoying your adoring glances at me."
