A day after Odin informs his sons of the proposal, Heimdallr goes back to Baldur."Baldur. I have a plan." Heimdallr says.
"Then let us hear your plan." Baldur says to Heimdallr.
"We go to Jotunheim." Heimdallr says.
"Jotunheim?! Why would we ever go to the land of our enemies?!" Baldur says to Heimdallr.
"We must meet with Farbauti and Laufey. The parents of Loki. I will inform you of more information later, but now I want you to follow me." Heimdallr says walking away, with Baldur following.
"This better work." Baldur says.
They walk outside of the hall Baldur lives in, as Heimdallr signals Huginn,
the raven that once used to serve exclusively Odin, that now serves any god that Odin has trust in. Heimdallr and Baldur fall into that category."Huginn, take us over the wall!" Hiteimdallr says to the raven.
Many ravens surround them for a few seconds and then disintegrate, which resulted in them finding themselves over the wall. "Okay, that's good. Now, Jotunheim." Heimdallr says. "Huginn!"
The same thing as before happens and they appear in Jotunheim, land of the jötnar.
"Now what?" Baldur says.
"Now, we find Farbauti and Laufey." Heimdallr says in return, pulling it a sword he was concealing.
They venture through the lands of the Jötnar for hours, with Heimdallr still checking in on the Bifröst every now and then, which has been guarded by Magni ever since the journey began.
"Heimdallr, why did you bring me here?" Baldur says, concerned.
"Why do you ask?" Heimdallr says, confusingly.
"You remember the shrine Thor saw here, right? My neck gets snapped when I'm here." Baldur says.
"You were alone in the shrine, I was nowhere seen in it. That is not possible unless we are split up." Heimdallr says to Baldur, confidently.
"But what if we are split up?" Baldur says.
"You have fought the Jötnar before, I do not see why you cannot now. It seems that ever since you were informed of that shrine, you have feared of Jotunheim."
"I guess that is true." Baldur says.
"Just try your very best to not get into a chokehold-"
Heimdallr could not finish before an arrow gets shot inches before his face from his right. He pulls out his sword to find that him and Baldur had stumbled into Járnviðr, a forest inhabited by non-giant Jötnar, with a group of them surrounding the two gods..
"What do you Æsir scum seek?!" A jotunn says to the two gods.
"We come in peace. Odin did not send us." Baldur says, with Heimdallr dropping his sword.
"What do you want?" A jotunn says.
"We wish to have a chat with Farbauti and Laufey." Baldur says.
"I am afraid that may not be happening. What will happen, is you dying."
"Wait, wait! No! Hear us out!" Heimdallr shouts as the group of Jötnar corner the two gods.
"Wait!" A male voice shouts from behind them.
Two Jötnar, who aren't giant, emerge from the shadows and reveal themselves as Farbauti and Laufey themselves.
"What do you seek?" Farbauti says.
"We wish to speak with you about your son." Heimdallr says to the two.
"..come." Farbauti says.
The two Giants sit the two gods down on a log next to a campfire.
"Mead?" Farbauti says, offering Heimdallr and Baldur mead.
"Oh, we're fine." Heimdallr says.
"What do you wish to discuss?" Farbauti says.
"Loki." Heimdallr says.
"What about him?" Laufey says.
"We need your help for... something about him."
"You don't mean, to kill him, don't you?" Farbauti says, concerned.
"Oh, no! Definitely not. But, does he happen to have any.. weaknesses?" Heimdallr says.
Farbauti stands up and says; "Why do you think I will tell you how to kill my own son?!"
"We aren't killing him!" Baldur says.
"Kill them!" Laufey says, commanding the Jötnar.
"Loki is becoming King of Asgard!" Heimdallr shouts.
Farbauti walks closer. "What?"
"Odin has chosen four gods to replace him. One of said gods is your son. Which means he will lead the Æsir against the Jötnar during Ragnarök."
Heimdallr says."But the prophecy-" Laufey says before Baldur cuts her off.
"We all know that prophecies doesn't always happen."
Farbauti sighs, now in a dilemma. "Should we do it?" He says to Laufey.
"Okay." Laufey agrees. "Let them go."
"Follow me." Farbauti says, bringing the two gods and Laufey into a small cave with alot of chests. Farbauti opens one and starts rummaging through it. He takes out one ring and carefully puts it on Heimdallr's palm.
"Take this ring and go to Svartalfheim. There, you must find two Dwarves. Brokkr and Sindri. They were the ones who forged Thor's hammer. They will forge a weapon strong enough to incapacitate any god or giant out of the ring." Farbauti tells them.
"Thank you." Baldur says.
"Just promise us you will not kill our boy." Laufey says.
"We promise." Heimdallr says.
"Well, we better get going. Huginn! Take us to Svartalfheim!"
