Bus Shenanigans

Right as they got on the bus, Reki exclaimed, "I should buy you a new swimsuit!"

It took Langa a moment to process this for absolutely no reason, but when he did, he replied, "Why?"

"You're a ghost because you wear a swim-shirt. Besides, why not?"

"First of all, I'm not pale because of that. I'm pale because I don't tan. Second, couldn't I just buy one myself and then you could tag along?" Langa was genuinely confused as to what the point of Reki buying his swimsuit was. He had money. It wasn't like Reki had much more. He spent it all on skateboard supplies.

Reki made a pouty face. "But I LIKE you and I want to make you happy and buy you everything you could ever want!"

The air in the room froze, including Langa's heart. Reki likes me??? Whaaaaaat no way! Maybe he could...? I mean, this is almost like a date.

Reki's face flushed a deep shade of red as he rethought his previous statement/almost confession. He frantically waved his hands around his face, stammering, "That-that's - um- not what I meant, I mean I DO really like you-just- I didn't mean it like THAT. Like I LIKE you -er- i don't. I like girls, don't worry. I'm not into that..." He trailed off, worried at the look on Langa's face.

Poor Langa looked like he was about to implode. For mixed reasons though. One; because Reki was fucking adorable when he was embarrassed. Two; because he just got rejected and he hadn't even confessed. Damn.

The blue-haired boy took a few small skootches forward, toward Reki, about to apologize. for what? He wasn't quite sure. But apologizing felt... Right.

He opened his mouth to say sorry, but Reki leaned forward and cut him off with his mouth. Complete shock filled Langa and he just sat there, like a deer in headlights.

Reki was still kissing him and Langa finally realized what was going on, but his reaction was a bit off. Instead of kissing reki back, he just said, "Oh."

Reki immediately pulled away, worried he scared Langa away.

Langa's eyes widened and he mentally cursed himself for saying "oh". Fucking oh of all things. It sends the most mixed signals ever.

"Wait! That wasn't a bad "oh", that was a "what just happened "oh". Like an "I'm being kissed by Reki Kyan" oh!"

Reki seemed more doubtful than before though and seemed to panic about it so he quickly apologized, "Sorry, sorry, I wasn't thinking and you looked really hurt and confused and I wasn't honestly sure what to do. I'm so sorry. You probably think I'm weird now and you won't wanna be friends anymore and then you'll leave me behind to become the best skater ever because you're so ama-mph!-"

If Langa heard one more word out of Reki's mouth, he was actually going to lose his shit.

Langa cut him off with his lips, even though they were on a public train.(it's ok, there were only like 3 ppl, all far away:)

Reki returned the kiss without hesitation, finally receiving what he gaslit himself into not wanting.

Langa's soft but calloused hands gently cupped reki's face. Reki scooted closer and their knees bumped together.

He was about to wrap his arms around Langa's neck, when the bus jerked to a stop and they bonked into each other, realizing that they had been kissing in public.

They both pulled away, completely flustered, and quickly turned away from each other, fumbling to grab their stuff.

They had to skate for a bit to get to the actual beach and once they did, Reki dropped his board and shirt and sprinted away toward the water.

Langa just watched him go and proceeded to claim a spot and put their stuff down.

He arranged their beach things all while staring happily at Reki.

The absolutely giddy redhead noticed this and tried to motion for Langa to come in the water, but accidentally smacked a little girl in the face, knocking her flat on her butt. She had on a cute frilly bathing-suit with her tawny hair tied up in pigtails by beaded hair clips.

Langa's jaw almost dropped while Reki attempted to apologize to the crying child.

She was only about three or four and her extremely anxious mother immediately came running over, worried her daughter had been murdered or something along those lines.

Reki was now trying to apologize to the mother, but it didn't seem to be going well, seen as the mom was yelling at Reki with everything in her soul.

Langa sighed and strolled over to the three before the mom decided she wanted retribution for her daughter and slapped Reki.

When Langa arrived, the mom opened her mouth like she was going to tell him to politely get lost, but he bowed deeply and said, as politely and non-threateningly as possible "I'm so very sorry about this, my friend didn't mean to hit your daughter. If there's anything we can do to compensate you for it, please let us know."

The mom appeared baffled as to why Langa was being so generous when his redhead friend clearly was not, and whether or not she should yell at him too. Finally, she said, passive aggressively, "Um... Just ice is fine."

Both Langa and Reki bowed this time. "Of course, ma'am," and then Langa added awkwardly to the girl, who was looking around, confused as to why everyone was fighting with her mommy, "He's sorry about hitting you."

Now she looked confused and scared, so she backed up to her mom and slowly nodded, ready to be done talking to scary teenagers and go back to swimming.

Langa grabbed Reki's hand to ensure he wouldn't cause more trouble and dragged him toward the smoothie bar to get ice.

Reki just awkwardly allowed himself to be dragged along, and when they got to the smoothie bar, Langa realized that Reki must be feeling awfully embarrassed to have hit the little girl and angered her mom so much. Of course, Reki knew the real reason he felt so embarrassed was that they were holding hands and kissed on the bus.

"Ah-" Langa started, and dropped Reki's hand.

Reki just let his hand lay there limply, swinging back and forth, watching it as it did so.

Langa decided to take a look up from where he had been staring at Reki's hand, and discovered that they were staring at the same hand that Langa had previously been holding.

Langa's courage was through the roof today, so he went for it, and snatched Reki's hand back from beside him.

The action slightly surprised Reki and Langa suddenly wondered if that was the right choice. But Reki smiled a genuine smile, and then tried to hide it, so he looked kinda goofy, making Langa realize that he made a smart choice.
