The person behind the smoothie bar was waiting patiently and greeted the two of them cheerily, "Is there anything I can get you two?"

Reki was unavailable to answer, as he was in a daze and staring their conjoined hands down, so Langa stepped up and replied, "Uh- could I just get a bag of ice, please?"

The request was odd, but the enthusiastic server had gotten plenty of strange requests, so they simply said,"Sure!" And dashed off to get the ice.

Reki and Langa stood there awkwardly, the redhead shifting on his feet out of anxiety.

A realization popped up in Rekis' head that very moment: this was becoming more and more like a date...

Having realized this, his anxious shifting became more prominent and he started glancing around the area. Langa was picking up on his companions worry and got nervous himself. He thought maybe his hand was sweaty, but it wasn't. Although it did start to sweat after he thought about it sweating.

He went back and forth, trying to figure out why the hell Reki was so jittery, until he finally blurted out," What's up with you?"

Reki jumped when Langa said that, but then quickly regained his composure."Yeah! I'm fine. Just- is this- like, a..." He trailed off, not wanting to weird Langa out by assuming something like that.

Langa, however, became very curious as to what the nervous wreck had to say, "What?"

His stare was fixed on Reki with all the pressure in the world in it.

Reki held eye-contact for all of two seconds before looking past Langa's head at the menu behind him. "Is this...Isn't this a bit- um- gay looking...?" He immediately wanted to bury his head in the sand under their feet and suffocate himself for saying that.

Langa shrunk back, but didn't let go of Reki's hand." Oh, yeah... If you don't like it, we can stop!'

Reki couldn't stand his best friend look so hurt, so he quickly amended his previous statement, "I'm okay with it! Er- if you are, ya know? I just wasn't sure if you were okay with it, that's all! Also, another question. Ahem. Is this, like, a date?"

Langa didn't know if his heart could take it anymore. Flustered, awkward Reki might be the cutest sight in the world. He desperately wanted more of it, so he replied as smoothly and confidently as he could(which wasn't very)," Do you want it to be?"

Reki wasn't expecting a counter question, so he was thrown a bit off-guard and answered,"I'm not uncomfortable with gay stuff! I actually really like it!" An idea he had created in his mind for his previous question.

Langa's brows furrowed, but Reki was obviously flustered, so he kept rolling with it, "Does that mean you do want this to be a date?"

Reki looked confused himself, and realized what he said was to the completely wrong question and blushed beet-red. He pulled his headband down in an attempt to hide his embarrassment, but ended up looking more flustered than before. Langa had never been more thoroughly pleased and proud of himself.

"Ya know, if you wanted this to be a date, you could've just asked. Jeez. I dunno why you had to wait to ask. It would've been the same amount romantic either way..." Reki was rambling, and he was fully aware of it, so he cut to the point and said, looking at the ground, "Yes."
